ELECTROPLATING AND ETCHING SYSTEM AND METHOD
The present invention is a system and method for electroplating and etching, which provides a solution to the problem of smoothing rough exterior features of a 3D printed or otherwise roughly manufactured object with rough exterior features. The core components of the invention are an acid bath with a first electrode and a target object as a second electrode which are in the acid bath. The first electrode and the target object are connected to a power source that causes a current to run in a first direction to etch the target object and in a second direction to plate on the target object. The amount of different metals dissolved in the acid solution will affect the composition of plated material on the target object.
Method for coating steel sheets or steel strips and method for producing press-hardened components therefrom
The invention relates to a method for coating a steel sheet or steel strip to which an aluminium-based coating is applied in a dip-coating process and the surface of the coating is freed of a naturally occurring aluminium oxide layer. In order to provide a low-cost method for coating steel sheets or steel strips that makes the steel sheets or steel strips outstandingly suitable for the production of components by means of press hardening and for the further processing thereof, it is proposed that transition metals or transition metal compounds are subsequently deposited on the freed surface of the coating to form a top layer. The invention also relates to a method for producing press-hardened components from the aforementioned steel sheets or steel strips with an aluminium-based coating.
Method for coating steel sheets or steel strips and method for producing press-hardened components therefrom
The invention relates to a method for coating a steel sheet or steel strip to which an aluminium-based coating is applied in a dip-coating process and the surface of the coating is freed of a naturally occurring aluminium oxide layer. Biofilm resistant medical implant
A method of incorporating silver and/or copper into a biomedical implant includes: providing an implant having an outer surface; depositing silver and/or copper onto the outer surface of the implant; diffusing the silver and/or copper into a subsurface zone adjacent the outer surface; and oxidizing or anodizing the implant after the diffusion step to form an oxidized or anodized layer that contains at least some amount of elemental silver, elemental copper or silver or copper ions or compounds.
Biofilm resistant medical implant

A chemical etch is performed on a sheet of material. An electrochemical etch is performed on the sheet of material after the chemical etch is performed on the sheet of material. A capacitor is fabricated such that an electrode included in the capacitor includes material from the sheet of material after the electrochemical etch was performed on the sheet of material. In some instances, the chemical etch included at least partially immersing the sheet of material in an etch bath that includes molybdenum. Additionally or alternately, the chemical etch can be performed for a period of time less than 60 s.

A chemical etch is performed on a sheet of material. An electrochemical etch is performed on the sheet of material after the chemical etch is performed on the sheet of material. A capacitor is fabricated such that an electrode included in the capacitor includes material from the sheet of material after the electrochemical etch was performed on the sheet of material. In some instances, the chemical etch included at least partially immersing the sheet of material in an etch bath that includes molybdenum. Additionally or alternately, the chemical etch can be performed for a period of time less than 60 s.
Metal article, method for manufacturing the metal article, and metal composite
A metal article comprises two metals, and a first hole and an oxide layer are set correspondingly on the surfaces of the two metals. To avoid the electrolytic corrosion on the interface between the two metals during the formation of the first hole, the disclosure provides a method of manufacturing the metal article. By putting a metal substrate in a first electrolyte including an etching agent and a passivating agent and applying electricity on the metal substrate, the metal article with the first hole is formed without electrolytic corrosion. The disclosure also provides a metal composite, which is formed by setting a material part in the first hole of the metal article.
