PHOTOSENSITIVE COMPOSITIONS AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
The present invention relates to photosensitive compositions containing polynorbornene (PNB) polymers and certain additives that are useful for forming microelectronic and/or optoelectronic devices and assemblies thereof, and more specifically to compositions encompassing PNBs and certain multifunctional crosslinking agents, and two or more phenolic compounds which are resistant to thermo-oxidative chain degradation and exhibit improved mechanical properties.
Longer-Lived Ruthenium Olefin Metathesis Catalysts Supported by Hemi-Labile Carbene Ligands
Contemplated subject matter disclosed herein relates generally to organometallic olefin metathesis catalysts, and more particularly to longer-lived olefin metathesis catalysts supported by hemi-labile carbene ligands that bear an arm with one or more donor ligands, as well as the use of such catalysts in metathesis reactions of olefins and olefin compounds. The contemplated subject matter has utility in the fields of catalysis, organic synthesis, polymer chemistry, and industrial and fine chemicals chemistry. This contemplated subject matter serves to reduce the cost of olefin metathesis (OM) processes including in olefin metathesis polymerizations, conversion of vegetable oils into chemicals, and processes in the petrochemical industry. This contemplated subject matter reduces the cost of OM processes by providing OM catalysts that are longer-lived and lead to higher turnover numbers, hence requiring less catalyst to convert a given amount of substrate(s). Considering that the OM catalyst is the most expensive part of some OM processes, longer-lived OM catalysts have the benefit of reducing the overall cost of the OM processes.
ARTICLE AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
An article comprises a substrate having a first portion comprising at least one of a metal or a ceramic metal oxide. A composite foam is bonded to the metal or ceramic metal oxide. The composite foam comprises: at least one polymer preparable by ring-opening metathesis polymerization; at least one catalyst for the ring-opening metathesis polymerization; at least one difunctional coupling agent represented by ZXZ. Each Z independently represents a group that is chemically reactive with at least one of the chemically bound surface hydroxyl groups thereby forming at least one covalent bond. Each X independently represents a divalent organic linking group having a number average molecular weight of 500 to 10000 grams per mole; and at least one of hollow glass microspheres or expanded polymeric microspheres. A method of making the article is also disclosed.
Field joint coating material and a process for making a field joint
The invention relates to a field joint coating material based on a fast curable olefin liquid formulation and a process of making a field joint wherein this coating material is used.
Optical film, polarizing plate, image display device, method for producing optical film, and method for producing polarizing plate
The present invention relates to an optical film which ensures adhesiveness between a polymer film and a liquid crystal layer without deteriorating the alignment of a liquid crystal compound; a polarizing plate using the same; an image display device; a method for producing an optical film; and a method for producing a polarizing plate. The optical film includes a polymer film including a cycloolefin-based polymer, and a liquid crystal layer that is provided adjacent to the polymer film, in which the liquid crystal layer is formed by using a liquid crystal composition containing a liquid crystal compound and a compound having a specific structure, where the liquid crystal composition contains the compound having a specific structure at a content of 0.5% to 7.0% by mass with respect to a mass of the liquid crystal compound, and a predetermined eccentricity value is 20% to 80%.
METHOD FOR SYNTHESIZING POLYOLEFIN MATERIAL WITH CONTROLLED DEGREE OF BRANCHING
A method for synthesizing polyolefin materials with a controlled degree of branching includes the following steps: polymerizing cyclic olefin monomers under catalyst conditions. The cyclic olefin monomer is shown in formula I, where n0, n is an integer. By changing monomers and reaction parameters such as reaction temperature, solvent type, catalyst concentration, monomer concentration and reaction time, the degree of branching, the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of polyolefin can be controlled. Compared with the existing process, the present invention is a new polymerization process, which can prepare the hyperbranched polyolefin with precise and controllable branching structure. The polyolefin material prepared according to the present invention has advantages of a controlled degree of branching, low viscosity and good fluidity, which has broad application in coating, lubricant, polymer and process flow improvement technologies.
