Endoscope and optical probe systems

The endoscope has an insertion portion, an imaging unit, and a member formed in a given dimension. The insertion portion has an apical portion, an actively curvable portion, and a treatment device channel. The actively curvable portion is located on the proximal side of the apical portion. The treatment device channel is positioned along the longitudinal axis of the insertion portion. The insertion portion is formed of resin. One or more radiopaque members, formed of knowns dimensions, are coated on a surface of the insertion portion or placed in, buried or covered laterally in the insertion portion. The X-ray transmittance of the radiopaque members is different from the X-ray transmittance of the resin forming the insertion portion.

System for detecting and logging of flatulence for health indication

A system is provided for collecting and logging the frequency of flatulence of a person in a selected time period as well as the duration of each occurrence of flatulence. The log entries provide determination of the body cells signaling of the person indicative of the person's health condition whereby underlying diseases may be detected and treated in their early stage.

METHOD OF DETECTING SYMPTOMS OF PERITONITIS

The invention relates to a method of detecting symptoms of peritonitis, wherein the method comprises the following steps: taking a photo of a drainage solution and/or of a catheter exit site using a smartphone and/or inputting at least one query parameter which is input by a patient through the input zone of a smartphone; and, evaluating the photo and/or the query parameter.

Micromotors and nanomotors for gastrointestinal diagnosis and treatment applications

Disclosed are nano/micromotor devices, systems, and methods for providing payloads in the gastrointestinal system. In one aspect, a micromotor for a gastrointestinal tract includes a micromotor body including a one or more material layers to provide a structure that surrounds a hollow interior region and has an opening to an exterior of the micromotor body; one or more particles including a biocompatible metal element, the one or more particles contained in the interior region of the micromotor body; a coating coupled to the structure of the micromotor body; and a payload material, in which the micromotor is structured to move in a fluid of a gastrointestinal system based on a reaction between the one or more particles and a constituent or a condition of the fluid, such that the reaction generates bubbles that accelerate out of the opening of the micromotor body to propel the micromotor in the fluid.

A medical device position notification system including a medical device and at least one sensor associated with the medical device, a processor, and a display device. The medical device is configured to be inserted into an orifice of the patient. The sensor measures information related to the position of the medical device in the patient's body, and communicates the information with the processor in real-time. The display device is coupled to the processor and is configured to display a tracing path of the position of the medical device in real-time. The display device is further configured to display a notification of the position of the medical device within the patient's body, such as a notification alert that the medical device has deviated from a predetermined path.

Modular capsule endoscope reconfigurable in digestive organ

The present invention relates to a capsule-type endoscope assembly which can be assembled or disassembled in a digestive organ of an examinee, and a capsule-type endoscope system using the same. A capsule-type endoscope of the present invention can be actively operated by the application of an external magnetic field. In addition, according to the present invention, after an examinee has separately swallowed various diagnosis and treatment devices modularized according to a purpose of diagnosis and treatment, the diagnosis and treatment devices can be assembled in a digestive organ of the examinee. Therefore, a function of a capsule-type endoscope can be extended to various diagnosis and treatment areas conventionally covered by a conventional general endoscope.
