Self-inflating anorectal expulsion device
An anorectal expulsion device includes a balloon having a wall that extends between proximal and distal ends of the balloon and defines a balloon interior. The balloon interior contains a self-expanding, low compression-set material (e.g., open cell foam). The device also includes a catheter that extends through the proximal end of the balloon and at least a portion of the balloon interior. An interior of the catheter is in fluid communication with the balloon interior. The device also includes a termination component (e.g., a cap or a valve) coupled to the catheter at a position along the catheter that is outside of and proximal to the proximal end of the balloon (e.g., at the proximal end of the catheter). The physical configuration of the termination component is adjustable, and controls whether the balloon interior is in fluid communication with the external environment.
Medical Device Position Notification System
A medical device position notification system including a medical device and at least one sensor associated with the medical device, a processor, and a display device. The medical device is configured to be inserted into an orifice of the patient. The sensor measures information related to the position of the medical device in the patient's body, and communicates the information with the processor in real-time. The display device is coupled to the processor and is configured to display a tracing path of the position of the medical device in real-time. The display device is further configured to display a notification of the position of the medical device within the patient's body, such as a notification alert that the medical device has deviated from a predetermined path.
Analysis and display of functional lumen imaging probe (FLIP) data
A method for analyzing and displaying functional lumen imaging probe (FLIP) measurement data includes receiving FLIP measurement data. A heatmap or topograph of the measurement data is generated and displayed to thereby create an image of a diameter along the lumen. The image is segmented to display only diameters of the lumen within a range of diameter values specified by a user.
