Multilayer coating film and coated object comprising luster flake coated with coloring materials
An multi-layer coating film 12 includes: a luster coat 15 containing a luster material; a color coat 16 applied on the luster coat 15, containing a pigment 21, and having translucency; and a coloring flake 22 included in the luster coat 15 and acting as the luster material to color a surface of a luster flake with a coloring material in the same type of color as a color type of the color coat 16.
Oxide coated metal pigments and film-forming compositions
This invention relates to sacrificial-metal pigments coated with an effective amount of at least one metal oxide or a combination of metal oxides such as a mixture of chromium and zirconium oxides, and the process for preparing said coated pigments and combination thereof with film-forming binders for coating metal substrates to inhibit corrosion. The coated sacrificial-metal pigments are electrically active to prevent corrosion of metal substrates that are more cathodic (electropositive) than the metal oxide coated metal pigments.
LAMELLAR PARTICLES WITH FUNCTIONAL COATING
There is disclosed a functional lamellar particle including an unconverted portion of the lamellar particle, wherein the unconverted portion includes a first metal, a converted portion of the lamellar particle disposed external to a surface of the unconverted portion, wherein the converted portion includes a chemical compound of the first metal; and a functional coating disposed external to a surface of the converted portion.
LAMELLAR PARTICLES AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE
There is disclosed a lamellar particle including an unconverted portion of the lamellar particle, wherein the unconverted portion includes a first metal, a converted portion of the lamellar particle disposed radially outward of at least one of a surface of the unconverted portion, wherein the converted portion includes a chemical compound of the first metal.
Coated pigment
A main object of the present invention to provide a coated pigment that is composed of a composite particle comprising a silicon compound coated on the surface of a metal particle, and that can be dispersed with relatively few aggregates. The present invention relates to a coated pigment comprising a composite particle containing a metal particle and one or two or more coating layers on the surface of the metal particle, wherein (1) at least one of the coating layers is a silicon compound-containing layer, and (2) the proportion of aggregates formed by adhesion of at least four of the composite particles with each other is not more than 35% by number.
White pigment reflecting IR radiation, production and use thereof
The invention relates to a pigment which reflects IR radiation, comprising an IR-reflecting core, the IR-reflecting core being provided with a substantially enveloping coating which is transparent to IR radiation, and in that the IR-reflecting pigment is substantially white. The invention further relates to a process for producing these pigments and also to their use.
PEARLESCENT PIGMENTS OBTAINED BY WET OXIDATION
The present invention relates to pearlescent pigments, to a process of manufacturing such pearlescent pigments based on a wet oxidation step as well as to the use of such pearlescent pigments.
USE OF IRON OXIDE COATED ALUMINUM FLAKES HAVING RED 1ST ORDER INTERFERENCE COLOR IN COATINGS
The use of an effect pigment (a) comprising an aluminum-based substrate and an iron oxide coating having a red 1.sup.st order interference color in combination with a colored absorption pigment (b) for producing a coating having enhanced coloristic properties, in particular enhanced chroma, lightness and hiding power, is provided. The pigment combination of (a) and (b) is suitable for coloring plastics, a fiber, a film and a coating composition such as a paint, a printing ink, a varnish or a powder coating, preferably an automotive, an architectural or an industrial coating composition.
PEG-ASSISTED DEPOSITION OF CRACK-FREE TITANIA NANOCRYSTALLINE COATINGS OVER AI FLAKES
A multi-layered pigment includes a metal core such as AlSiO.sub.2. A high refractive index layer such as TiO.sub.2 is applied by an aqueous organic two-phase process to and surrounding the metal core. The high refractive index layer has a thickness greater than 120 nm wherein the high refractive index layer is uniform and crack-free.
Metal Effect Pigments with High Chroma and High Brilliancy, Method for the Production and Use Thereof
The invention relates to a metal effect pigment including a metallic substrate in platelet form and a coating applied thereto, wherein the coating includes a spacer layer. The invention further relates to a process for production of and to the use of the metal effect pigment.
