Wound dressing with a bacterial adsorbing composition and moisture holding system
10893981 · 2021-01-19 · ·

The invention herein relates to a wound dressing product, combining a hydrophobic fabric, which is to be placed towards the wound, and is capable of binding unwanted microorganisms, and a moisture carrying matrix such as a gel or a foam. The product of the invention is ideal for treatment of drier wounds. It protects the wound and reduces the number of pathogenic microorganisms, without using antimicrobial substances and at the same time adds or traps moisture to the wound both supporting the hydrophobic functioning of the pad and healing in general by keeping the wound moist.

Wound Covering Device
20200390610 · 2020-12-17 ·

A wound covering device for noncontact wound protection includes a shell and a coupler. The shell, which defines an interior space, has a bottom that is open so that the shell is configured to position over a wound in skin of a user. The coupler is coupled to the shell and is configured to removably couple to the skin of the user. The coupler is configured to retain the shell over the wound to protect the wound.

Rigid or semi-rigid protecting element for covering wounds

A protecting element for wounds includes a rigid or semi-rigid substantially concave covering portion adapted to be anchored so as to face a wound and to be spaced therefrom, and anchoring members of the covering portion adapted to be anchored to the skin surrounding the wound to be protected. In particular, the anchoring members include at least one pair of movable fins that are independent from each other and are rotatably coupled to the covering portion.

VACUUM WOUND THERAPY WOUND DRESSING WITH VARIABLE PERFORMANCE ZONES
20200352789 · 2020-11-12 ·

A dressing for an open wound includes a cover layer dimensioned for positioning relative to a wound bed. The cover layer permits an evacuation of the space around the wound bed such that a sub-atmospheric pressure may be established to stimulate healing and facilitate the removal of fluid from the wound. Multiple performance zones in the cover layer allow the wound dressing to remain in position through repeated cycles of evacuation without placing undue strain on the wound bed. An outer peripheral zone may include a high peal-strength adhesive while an intermediate zone may include a shear resistant adhesive. A central zone may be devoid of any coating to maximize moisture transmission through cover layer.

ANIMAL BANDAGE WRAP INCLUDING AN ANTIMICROBIAL COATING
20200281774 · 2020-09-10 · ·

A wrap for a non-human animal comprises: a wrap for a non-human animal comprises: an elastic portion; an exterior surface; and an antimicrobial coating applied to the exterior surface. The antimicrobial coating includes a silane quaternary ammonium ion or salt thereof. The exterior surface can adhere to itself. The elastic portion can comprise natural rubber. The silane quaternary ammonium ion or salt thereof is one or more of: 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium ion, 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride, 3-(trihydroxysilyl)propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium ion, or 3-(trihydroxysilyl)propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride. The antimicrobial coating applied to the exterior surface imparts antimicrobial properties onto the wrap. The antimicrobial coating can be applied to the wrap by applying a solution that includes the silane quaternary ammonium ion or salt thereof to the exterior surface. The silane quaternary ammonium ion or salt thereof can be between 0.1 percent and 10 percent by weight of the solution.

Hydrogel wound dressings exhibiting reduced fiber losses in use

A wound dressing comprising: a water-absorbent fabric comprising at least about 10 wt. % of hydrogel-forming absorbent fibers based on the dry weight of the fabric; and an adhesion-resistant, water-permeable wound contacting surface textile layer that is substantially continuously bonded to at least one surface of said fabric. The surface textile layer may be formed by surface treatment of the fabric, or by bonding a suitable textile web to the surface of the fabric.

Hemostatic agent and method

A sponge including one or more hemostatic agents and one or more binding agents. At least one of the hemostatic agents is a pregelatinized potato starch. The collective percentage by weight of the one or more hemostatic agents is within the range of approximately one eighth to approximately sixteen times as great as the collective percentage by weight of the one or more binding agents.

APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR MINIMIZING WOUND DEHISCENSE, SCAR SPREAD, AND/OR THE LIKE
20200222243 · 2020-07-16 ·

This disclosure includes apparatuses for minimizing scar spread and reducing risk of wound dehiscence and related methods. Some of the apparatuses include a flexible first strip and a flexible second strip, the first and second strips configured to be coupled to a patient's back on opposing sides of a wound and a substantially inelastic and flexible layer of material configured to be directly coupled to the first and second strips with the layer in tension to resist separation of the first and second strips, where the layer is configured to be removably coupled to at least one of the first and second strips. In some of the apparatuses, the layer is configured to be removably coupled to each of the first and second strips. In some of the apparatuses, the layer is non-removably coupled to and/or is unitary with at least one of the first and second strips.

CRANIAL CAP DRESSING
20200222245 · 2020-07-16 ·

A cranial cap dressing for dressing a craniotomy wound comprising a breathable elastic outer layer sized to fit snuggly on a human head of a patient and an absorbent inner layer attached to the breathable elastic outer layer.

Adjustable, Waterproof Wound Shield
20200179155 · 2020-06-11 ·

An apparatus for protecting a wound. The apparatus includes a waterproof shield element to cover a wound area of a user's body, where the elevated top surface of the shield element is elevated away from the user's body. A retention mechanism selectively retains the shield element against the user's body, utilizing the elevated top surface to create a normal force between the shield element and the user's body to thereby form an effective seal between the shield element and the user's body.
