Nonwoven fabric for shielding terahertz frequencies
A method for producing a nonwoven for shielding electromagnetic radiation in a terahertz (THz) range includes: providing a first metal alloy adapted to shield electromagnetic radiation; providing a polymer material; providing a second metal alloy which differs from the first metal alloy; producing polymer fibers with filled fiber cores by evaporating the first metal alloy and mixing the first metal alloy molecules with the polymer material; coating at least a part of a surface of the polymer fibers with the second metal alloy; producing the nonwoven by randomly and irregularly arranging the coated polymer fibers with filled fiber cores in a three spatial dimensional directions, or producing the nonwoven by randomly and irregularly arranging the polymer fibers with filled fiber cores in the three spatial dimensional directions and coating at least a part of a surface of the nonwoven with the second metal alloy.
Scalable nanotube fabrics and methods for making same
The present disclosure provides scalable nanotube fabrics and methods for controlling or otherwise adjusting the nanotube length distribution of a nanotube application solution in order to realize scalable nanotube fabrics. In one aspect of the present disclosure, one or more filtering operations are used to remove relatively long nanotube elements from a nanotube solution until nanotube length distribution of the nanotube solution conforms to a preselected or desired nanotube length distribution profile. In another aspect of the present disclosure, a sono-chemical cutting process is used to break up relatively long nanotube elements within a nanotube application solution into relatively short nanotube elements to realize a pre-selected or desired nanotube length distribution profile.

Method for fabricating a hybrid carbon nanofiber product
Hybrid carbon nanofiber (Cnf) products (e.g., mats, yarns, webs, etc.) and methods of fabricating the same are provided. The hybrid Cnf products are flexible and lightweight and have high thermal conductivity. An electrospinning process can be used to fabricate the hybrid Cnf products and can include preparation of an electrospinning solution, electrospinning, and carbonization (e.g., under a vacuum condition).
ALIGNED FIBRES AND A METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
Provided herein is a method for aligning discontinuous fibres comprising: providing a stream of discontinuous fibres in a dispersion medium; applying a shear stress to the dispersion medium to align at least a portion of the discontinuous fibres; and disposing the at least a portion of the aligned discontinuous fibres on a substrate thereby providing a layer of substantially aligned discontinuous fibres. Also provided are discontinuous fibres aligned by such method and a composite material formed from the aligned discontinuous fibres.
POROUS CARBON SHEET AND PRECURSOR FIBER SHEET THEREOF
A precursor fiber sheet includes short carbon fibers having an average length of 3 to 10 mm, natural pulp having an ash content of 0.15 mass % or less, and a heat-carbonizable resin, and a porous carbon sheet is obtained by carbonizing the precursor fiber sheet. This enhances gas diffusibility and water removal properties of the porous carbon sheet and has high mechanical strength and few appearance defects even when the bulk density of the porous carbon sheet is lowered.

Multipurpose functional nonwoven fiber, and method for manufacturing same
The present invention relates to a multipurpose functional nonwoven fabric, and more particularly, to a multipurpose functional nonwoven fabric which is manufactured by performing a pretreatment process on carbonized fiber cotton, and stacking the pretreated carbonized fiber on natural cotton, mixing the pretreated carbonized fiber cotton with the natural cotton and scutching the mixed cotton, or introducing the natural cotton and stacking the natural cotton on an intermediate layer of the pretreated carbonized fiber, and a method for manufacturing same. Web formation and stacking at a cutting machine can be easily performed by performing the pretreatment process on the carbonized fiber. Also, excellent heat resistance and conductivity can be obtained by stacking the carbonized fiber cotton on natural cotton, mixing the carbonized fiber cotton with the natural cotton, scutching the mixed carbonized fiber cotton and the natural cotton and stacking the scutched cotton, or introducing natural cotton into an intermediate layer of the carbonized fiber cotton, stacking the natural cotton on the intermediate layer of the carbonized fiber cotton, and subjecting the stacked cotton to needle punching. Since a surface temperature of the nonwoven fabric can be lowered and the loss of heat can be reduced through dissipation and dispersion of heat, thermal retention and insulation properties of the entangled natural cotton can be enhanced, and carbonization prevention and incombustiblization of the natural cotton can be achieved. Also, the multipurpose functional nonwoven fabric can be manufactured at a low production cost and exhibit environmentally friendly characteristics, and a waste material can be recycled.
