CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE
A CPU prompts a user to drive a vehicle to a repair shop by operating a display when an amount of PM deposited in a GPF increases. When a regeneration request for the GPF is input from a shop-side terminal in the repair shop, the CPU performs a regeneration process in a state in which the vehicle stops. The CPU controls a temperature of the GPF such that the temperature at the time of execution of the regeneration process becomes lower when an opening/closing member is in a closed state than when the opening/closing member is in an open state.
APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR SHUTDOWN OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE BY VALVE DEACTIVATION
An apparatus, method, and/or system is provided for conducting an engine shutdown in a circumstance of a runaway engine event. In a condition where an uncontrolled fuel source is present in the ambient air, there may be a risk of a runaway engine condition in an internal combustion engine. Air taken into an intake system of the engine may include an undesired or uncontrolled combustible component. The method, apparatus, and/or system includes steps, control systems, devices, and mechanisms to prevent opening of at least one intake valve or exhaust valve of at least one cylinder of the engine to stop combustion in the chamber, in response to a condition indicating a possible runaway engine event. The indicator may include an engine overspeed condition, or presence of the combustible component in the intake air.
SMART FIRING PATTERN SELECTION FOR SKIP FIRE CAPABLE ENGINES
A skip fire control system for an engine of a vehicle includes a set of sensors configured to measure a set of operating parameters of the engine corresponding to a volumetric efficiency of the engine, a set of sub-systems having a set of operational states that affect transitions between different firing patterns/fractions of the engine, and a controller configured to, based on the set of operating parameters and the set of operational states of the set of sub-systems, determine a best firing pattern/fraction by taking into account losses or penalties to transition at least some of the set of operational states of the set of sub-systems to obtain a target firing pattern/fraction, and control the engine based on the target firing pattern/fraction to maximize an efficiency of the engine.
Method and system for preparing an engine for starting
Methods and systems are provided for heating a catalyst via a catalyst heater are presented. In one example, the catalyst may be heated to provide a minimum amount of time for the catalyst to reach a threshold temperature. In another example, the catalyst heater may be heated to minimize an amount of power that is used to heat the catalyst.
Method for Operating an Oxygen Sensor, Computer Program Product and Oxygen Sensor
A method and apparatus for compensates for oxygen sensor aging determines a correction of by measuring oxygen content above a specified threshold value and measuring current flowing through the sensor over time.
Estimating Ambient Air Temperature and Diagnosing Sensor Failure Using Intercooler Efficiency
Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for determining an estimated ambient air temperature in an environment in which a vehicle is operating. The estimated ambient air temperature may be compared to an ambient temperature sensor value. The comparison may be used to determine whether an ambient air temperature sensor of the vehicle is functioning properly or if an error notification or fault code should be triggered.
AIR SUPPLY DEVICE FOR AN ELECTRICALLY HEATED CATALYST AND A METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME
An air supply device for an electrically heated catalyst is proposed. The device includes an electronic supercharger fluidly connected to an intake manifold, an intake valve fluidly connected to the electronic supercharger, an exhaust valve fluidly connected to an exhaust manifold of the engine, an electrically heated catalyst fluidly connected to the exhaust manifold and positioned in a front end of a catalyst part, and a controller configured to control driving of the electronic supercharger and an opening degree of each of the intake valve and the exhaust valve. The controller controls the electronic supercharger based on a door opening condition in a cold operation and switches the intake valve to an advance state and the exhaust valve to a retard state, thus heating the electrically heated catalyst.
Methods and systems for regenerating a particulate filter
Systems and methods for improving regeneration of a particulate filter located in an exhaust system of a vehicle are presented. In one example, the particulate filter is regenerated when the vehicle is expected to operate in a stationary electric power generating mode where the vehicle supplies electric power to off-board electric power consumers.
Torque-slewing diesel engine operation
An aircraft diesel engine may be operated at a minimal fuel rate. Shaft output power of the engine may be reduced by initiating combustion during the compression stroke. Combustion may be initiated during the compression stroke by advancing fuel injection, splitting fuel injection, and/or manipulating individual injection quantities. Initiating combustion during the compression stroke may slew torque generation to the compression stroke.
Exhaust gas purifying apparatus
Provided is an exhaust gas purifying apparatus capable of making a filter entrance temperature reach a target temperature while suppressing excessive temperature increases and release of THC even upon extension of the exhaust path or decreases in outside air temperature. The exhaust gas purifying apparatus includes an oxidation catalyst 18 and a filter 19 that are placed in an exhaust path 5 of an engine 1, a fuel injection device 13 for injecting fuel in accordance with a fuel injection pattern, and a control device 50 configured to be capable of setting the fuel injection pattern including post-injection, wherein an upper-limit value of post-injection quantity increases with decreasing outside air temperature and/or with elongating path length of the exhaust path 5.
