Outer Airseal Abradable Rub Strip
A blade outer airseal has a body comprising: an inner diameter (ID) surface; an outer diameter (OD) surface; a leading end; and a trailing end. The airseal body has a metallic substrate and a coating system atop the substrate along at least a portion of the inner diameter surface. At least over a first area of the inner diameter surface, the coating system comprises an abradable layer comprising a metallic matrix and a solid lubricant; and the metallic matrix comprises, by weight, 35% copper, 30.0-45.0% combined nickel, cobalt, and iron with combined iron and cobalt content at most one-third of the nickel content, 2.0-8.0% aluminum, and 5.0-15.0% chromium.
AIRCRAFT ENGINE HAVING SEAL ASSEMBLY DEFINING AN ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE PATH
The aircraft engine can have an engine casing housing the engine, the engine casing having a shaft aperture; a shaft rotatably mounted to the engine casing, the shaft protruding from the engine casing through the shaft aperture; and a seal assembly extending between the engine casing and the shaft adjacent the shaft aperture, the seal assembly defining an electrically conductive path between the engine casing and the shaft.
CONNECTING CLIP HAVING A METAL WIRE MAT AS A DAMPING ELEMENT
A connecting clip for connecting two pipelines, having a first clip arm, which is designed to extend at least partially around a circumference of a first pipeline, and a second clip arm, which is designed to extend at least partially around a circumference of a second pipeline. The first and the second clip arm are connected to one another in a damping manner, and at least one metal mat is provided as damping element.
AIRFOIL STRUCTURE HAVING A SHAPE MEMORY ALLOY ACTUATOR
A fan blade includes a blade body and a shape memory alloy actuator. The blade body has a pressure side disposed opposite a suction side. Each of the pressure side and the suction side extends radially from a root towards a tip and extends axially from a leading edge towards a trailing edge. The blade body defines a passageway that is disposed between the pressure side and the suction side. The shape memory alloy actuator is received within the passageway and is operatively connected to the blade body.
TURBINE ENGINE ELEMENT COMPRISING AT LEAST ONE BLADE OBTAINED BY ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
The present invention relates to a turbomachine element (1), comprising at least one blade (2) obtained by additive manufacturing, the blade (2) having a skin (4) and an internal lattice (6) allowing air circulation in the blade (2) and having an additive manufacturing support function for the skin (4).
Ply, method for manufacturing ply, and method for manufacturing article with ply
A method for manufacturing a ply is disclosed. The method includes printing the ply, the ply including a near net shape and a ceramic matrix composite nonwoven material. A ply is disclosed wherein the near net shape is a predetermined layer of an article. A method for manufacturing an article is also disclosed. The method includes printing a first ply and a second ply. The first ply includes a first near net shape and a first ceramic matrix composite nonwoven material, and the second ply includes a second near net shape and a second ceramic matrix composite nonwoven material. The method further includes applying the second ply to the first ply, and consolidating the first ply and the second ply.
SANDWICH ARRANGEMENT WITH CERAMIC PANELS AND CERAMIC FELTS
The disclosure relates to a sandwich arrangement having at least two peripheral disposed ceramic panels and a ceramic felt which is inserted between a first and second ceramic panel, The material of the first ceramic panel is equal or different to the material of the second panel, wherein the ceramic felt is formed by a textile structure with a regularly or quasi-regularly structured woven fibres. The fibres are made of at least one material and/or composition, wherein at least one adhesive is provided between an underside of the panels and adjacent fibres.
AIRFOIL WITH SANDWICH COMPOSITE
A method for fabricating an airfoil for a gas turbine engine includes providing a core blank made of a cellular material, shaping the core blank into a cellular core, forming a fiber preform that has an airfoil section and a platform by laying-up first and second ceramic fiber ply skins on the cellular core such that in the platform the cellular core is sandwiched radially between the first and second ceramic fiber ply skins, the first and second ceramic fiber ply skins each include at least one 2-D ceramic fiber ply, and densifying the fiber preform with a ceramic matrix.
STEAM TURBINE, A STEAM TURBINE NOZZLE, AND A METHOD OF MANAGING MOISTURE IN A STEAM TURBINE
A hydrophilic surface pattern on a removal surface of a steam turbine directs surface moisture in at least one predetermined direction to enhance moisture management by enhancing moisture removal or otherwise reducing erosion caused by moisture in the steam turbine. In some embodiments, the removal surface is located on the outer surface of the nozzle wall adjacent an extraction opening. In some embodiments, the removal surface is located on the surface of the bucket and directs moisture toward the turbine rotor. In some embodiments, the removal surface is located on the surface of the turbine casing or the surface of the nozzle and directs moisture toward a drain in the turbine casing. The hydrophilic surface pattern is preferably laser-etched as a nano-scale pattern to create the hydrophilic surface. In some embodiments, the hydrophilic surface pattern creates a superhydrophilic surface.
COMPRESSOR VARIABLE VANE ASSEMBLY
A variable vane assembly for a gas turbine engine compressor and method of manufacturing same is described. A plurality of projections on the inner and/or outer shroud protrude into the annular gas path, each projection being at least partially circumferentially disposed between two variable vanes and located adjacent the overhang portion thereof. The projections have an angled planar surface that is substantially parallel to a plane defined by a terminal edge of the overhang portion of the variable vanes when pivoted through a vane pivot arc.
