Sliding element for an engine
A sliding element for an engine may include a metallic substrate, a first polymer-based layer, and a second polymer-based layer. The first polymer-based layer may include a polymeric material and may be disposed on the metallic substrate. The second polymer-based layer may include a polymeric material and may be disposed on the first polymer-based layer. The polymeric material of the first polymer-based layer may be the same as the polymeric material of the second polymer-based layer. The second polymer-based layer may further include a tungsten disulphide particulate.
Sliding member
To provide a sliding member including an overlay capable of realizing good fatigue resistance while preventing interlayer peeling. A sliding member including an overlay formed of an alloy plating film of Bi and Sb, and the overlay is bonded to a lining formed of a copper alloy via an intermediate layer containing Ag as a main component.
GEARBOXES FOR AIRCRAFT GAS TURBINE ENGINES
Gearboxes for aircraft gas turbine engines, in particular arrangements for journal bearings such gearboxes, and related methods of operating such gearboxes and gas turbine engines. A gearbox for an aircraft gas turbine engine includes: a sun gear; a plurality of planet gears surrounding and engaged with the sun gear; and a ring gear surrounding and engaged with the plurality of planet gears, each of the plurality of planet gears being rotatably mounted around a pin of a planet gear carrier with a journal bearing having an internal sliding surface on the planet gear and an external sliding surface on the pin.
Coating method for bearing ring
A method of producing a bearing ring of a rolling element bearing. External surfaces of the bearing ring are provided with an electrically insulating coating. The method providing the steps of (i) providing a prefinished bearing ring made of bearing steel. The bearing ring has a hardened and machined raceway surface for accommodating at least one row of rolling elements; (ii) providing a first coating on all surfaces of the bearing ring; (iii) removing the first coating from the external surfaces of the bearing ring; and (iv) providing the electrically insulating coating on the external surfaces.
Flanged inner ring for wheel hub bearings
A flanged inner ring for wheel hub bearings is disclosed, wherein a tubular supporting body for the bearing is coaxial with an axis (X), and is provided with a flange, transverse to the axis (X), is provided with a plurality of threaded through holes distributed around the axis (X), and is axially delimited by an outer annular mounting surface and by an inner surface axially facing an outer ring of the bearing.
Composite bearing and method of making and using the same
An assembly including an inner member; an outer member; and a bearing including a bearing sidewall including a flat portion, a first convex axial end, and a second convex axial end, where at least one of the inner member or the outer member is adapted to axially translate relative to the bearing, and where at least one of the first convex axial end or the second convex axial end is adapted to induce formation of a film on the bearing sidewall during the axial translation of at least one of the inner member or the outer member.
SLIDING ELEMENT COMPRISING A PIGMENT
A sliding element for an engine may include a polymer-based overlay layer and a metallic substrate. The polymer-based overlay layer may include a polymer-based matrix, a metal particulate, and a pigment. The pigment may have a hardness of at least 4 on the Mohs hardness scale.
SLIDING MEMBER
A sliding member of the present invention includes a coating on a base material. The coating contains hard metal particles and corrosion-resistant metal particles that have hardness lower than that of the hard metal particles. The hard metal particles contain particles that have at least Vickers hardness of 600 Hv or higher. The corrosion-resistant metal particles are made of at least one kind of metal selected from the group consisting of copper (Cu), cobalt (Co), chromium (Cr), and nickel (Ni), or are made of an alloy containing said metal. The coating has a cross section in which the hard metal particles are dispersed in an island manner in a particle aggregate of the corrosion-resistant metal particles and in which an area ratio of the corrosion-resistant metal particles is 30% or larger. Thus, corrosion of the hard metal particles in the coating is prevented, whereby the sliding member maintains wear resistance for a long time.
Tilting pad bearing assemblies, and bearing apparatuses and methods of using the same
Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to tilting pad bearing assemblies, bearing apparatuses including the tilting pad bearing assemblies, and methods of using the bearing apparatuses. The tilting pad bearing assemblies disclosed herein include a plurality of tilting pads. At least some of the superhard tables exhibit a thickness that is at least about 0.120 inch and/or at least two layers having different wear and/or thermal characteristics.
Wheel bearing arrangement having a coating
A wheel bearing arrangement for a motor vehicle includes a wheel hub. The wheel hub is connected to a wheel flange. A multi-row rolling element bearing is mounted on the wheel hub. The bearing has an outer ring and at least one inner ring which is axially prestressed by a collar of the wheel hub. A zinc flake coating is formed on at least part of the wheel bearing arrangement to improve corrosion protection.
