FASTENERS FOR WHEEL AND BRAKE ASSEMBLIES
A tie bolt is disclosed. In various embodiments, the tie bolt includes a shank having a first end and a second end; and a counterbore disposed at the second end of the shank, opposite the first end, the counterbore having a counterbore depth and a counterbore diameter.
Mill Liner Installation
The present disclosure relates to a method for use in installation of a mill liner, the method including (a) retaining a mounting bolt at least partially within a liner opening extending through the mill liner, (b) positioning the mill liner against a mill shell so that the retained mounting bolt is aligned with a mill shell opening extending through the mill shell, (c) selectively coupling an extraction tool to the mounting bolt, the coupling performed by an operator outside of the mill shell, (d) detaching the mounting bolt from the liner using the extraction tool; (e) pulling the mounting bolt through the mill shell opening so that at least a portion of the mounting bolt protrudes outside of the mill shell, and, (e) securing a fastener onto the mounting bolt to thereby attach the mill liner to the mill.
Tamper-resistant fastener
A tamper-resistant threaded fastener including a circular head having a slot formed in the head transverse to the longitudinal axis, the slot having an enlarged region intermediate an apex and a base of the slot. A cap member includes a head having a drive feature formed therein, the head extending to a first shank portion, extending to an enlarged second shank portion, extending to a foot. The cap member is insertable in the slot only from a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis. During rotational installation of the fastener and cap member in a threaded counterbored opening for securing a barrier for protecting an asset, the foot shears inside the slot at a predetermined rotational drive force, the cap member being rotatable in the opening and protectively covering the fastener head.
Asymmetric fastener recess and key
A fastening system including a pin member and a key for engaging the pin member. The pin member includes a shank portion and a recess formed within an end face of the shank portion. The recess includes a plurality of splines and recesses that form first and second bearing surfaces oriented at angles. The key includes a key head having a plurality of splines and grooves that form first and second bearing surfaces oriented at angles. The plurality of splines and recesses of the pin member and the plurality of splines and recesses of the key are adapted to communicate with each other when tightening and loosening the pin member.
Blind bolt
A blind bolt and tool is used for fastening a bolt through a hole in a structure when only one side of the structure is accessible. A receiver is formed on the tip end of a bolt shaft opposite from a bolt head. Internal threads are formed within the receiver proximate an outward end, and a hex socket is formed in the inward end of the receiver. External threads and a guide are formed on a tip of the tool, and the external threads mate with the internal threads in the receiver to hold the bolt during installation. A hex key on one end of the tool engages the hex socket in the receiver so that the tool may impose a torque on the bolt when a nut is being tightened on the bolt. In another embodiment, a splined tip is formed on the end of the bolt. The tip is designed to shear off when a sufficient torque is applied. Also, a shim is configured to fit between structures held together by the blind bolt.
FASTENER INCLUDING A TRANSITION ZONE AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF
A fastener and a method of fastening are provided. The fastener can comprise a first end, an oppositely disposed second end, and an elongate portion intermediate the first end and the second end. The elongate portion comprises a first region adjacent to the first end and a second region adjacent to the second end. The first region extends a distance along the elongate portion and has a first diameter. The second region extends a distance along the elongate portion and has a second diameter different from the first diameter. The fastener comprises a transition zone which extends a distance along the elongate portion and connects the first region and the second region. The transition zone comprises a radiused region and a taper region.
Method and apparatus for maintaining a relationship between separate objects
A method of maintaining first and second objects in a desired relationship. The method involves obtaining a fastener having a body with an elongate shank. The body has a head with a blocking surface. The shank is configured to engage a surrounding bore surface on or associated with at least one of the first and second objects to cause the shank to advance axially in a tightening direction while turned in one direction. The fastener body is engaged at a location spaced from the head to turn the shank in the one direction, thereby causing the shank to draw the head so as to move the blocking surface on the head towards a selected holding position relative to one of the first and second objects wherein the fastener is in a fastened state. The invention is also directed to the fastener construction.
Assembly method for a connector
The present invention relates to an assembly method for a connector, in particular for a high-voltage connector, having an electrical conductor and an electric contact, which assembly method comprises the following steps: providing a screw having a first drive and a second drive which is formed opposite the first drive; establishing a connection with play between the electrical conductor and the electric contact by means of the screw by the screw being inserted respectively into a passage hole in the electrical conductor and in the electric contact and being turned in a first direction by way of its first drive; tightening the connection between the electrical conductor and the electric contact by the screw being turned in a second direction, which is opposite the first direction, by way of its second drive. The present invention further relates to a connector and also to a screw.
BOLT INTERFACE COATING AND THREAD TRANSITION GEOMETRY FOR SLEEVED FASTENERS USED IN COMPOSITE APPLICATIONS
A bolt for an interference fastener and a fastener system is provided. The bolt has a body extending axially between a first end and a second end. The body has a threaded area extending axially inward from the second end and a head configured on the first end. A cylindrical expansion area extends axially between the head and the transition area. The transition area is disposed axially between the cylindrical expansion area and the threaded area.
DENTAL TOOL, PROSTHETIC COMPONENT, AND TOOL AND COMPONENT ASSEMBLY
A dental tool and prosthetic components/screws that allow capturing, transporting and applying torque so as to perform dental service with a single tool specially adapted for components/screws with reduced dimensions, such as, e.g., smaller than 1.4 mm in diameter.
