The variable pitch blade holder is configured to retain a blade and to rotate about a center axis with the blade during operation of the gas turbine engine. The blade holder is adapted to rotate about a pitch change axis to vary a pitch of the blade.
Variable pitch fan for a gas turbine engine
A gas turbine engine airflow member is disclosed having spherical interface shapes at a tip end and a hub end. In one embodiment, the airflow member is a fan blade. The spherical interface shapes can be convex or concave. In one form, the tip end spherical shape is axially shifted aft relative to a hub end. The tip end can include relatively little forward portion in an expanding flow path with predominant portion of the tip end in a contracting flow path. Such a configuration can occur with a midpoint and trailing edge located in the contracting flow path. A center of gravity of a swept airflow member having spherical end shape can be located on a pivot axis of the airflow member. Divot depressions can be provided to permit concave flow path shapes.
VARIABLE PITCH FAN FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A gas turbine engine includes a fan having a plurality of fan blades configured to rotate about a central axis of the gas turbine engine. Each fan blade is configured to pivot about a pitch axis that extends radially away from the central axis to vary a pitch of the fan blade.
Pump systems with variable diameter impeller devices
A system having a variable diameter impeller device that is operable for reducing an energy consumption of a rotating fluid or gas pump by increasing the impeller diameter as a speed of the rotating fluid or gas pump increases and decreasing the impeller diameter as the speed decreases. An extendable vane arrangement is configured to move along an elongated curved or sloping slot, the movement along the elongated curved or sloping slot is operable for increasing and decreasing a diameter of the impeller device. A spring arrangement having a first end and a second end extends and retracts to dynamically increase or decrease a diameter of the impeller device.
Fan module with variable pitch blades
Disclosed herein is a fan module with variable pitch blades for a propulsion unit, the fan module comprising a rotor carrying the blades and comprising an inner shaft and an outer casing defining between them a space, a control device for controlling the pitch of the blades, and a feathering device for feathering the blades. The rotation of the rotor is guided by a bearing, and the module further comprises means for recovering and guiding a liquid lubricant of the bearing, with the recovery and guidance means being configured to recover and guide said lubricant from an axial upstream end of the casing, axially from upstream to downstream and radially from the inside to the outside, under the centrifugal effect.
Relative Position Measurement
A feedback sensor system is provided. The feedback sensor system includes a first ring rotatable about an axial direction and a second ring also rotatable about the axial direction. The first ring includes one or more first ring features and the second ring includes one or more second ring features. The feedback sensor system also includes a sensor directed at the surface of the first ring for sensing a parameter influenced by the one or more first ring features and the one or more second ring features. The sensor may determine a position of the first ring relative to the second ring by sensing the parameter.
Turbomachine polyspherical hub for variable pitch blades
The present invention concerns a turbomachine hub, intended to be mounted so as to be able to rotate about a longitudinal axis (X) of the turbomachine, the hub comprising a main body (1) arranged around the longitudinal axis (X), an outer surface of which has a plurality of recesses; a plurality of platforms (3) comprising an outer surface delimited by a circular outer edge of radius r, each platform (3) being arranged in a corresponding recess of the plurality of recesses of the main body (1), and intended to receive a variable pitch blade (2), the pitch of which is variable according to a pitch change axis (Z), the platform (3) being centred and able to rotate about the pitch change axis (Z); characterised in that, for each platform, at least one part of the outer surface of the platform (3) and the main body (1) of the hub comprises a curvature defined by a same sphere portion of radius R and centre C, the at least one part being situated at the outer edge of the platform (3), in a junction zone between the platform (3) and the main body of the hub (1), the centre C of the sphere being situated on the pitch change axis (Z) outside a hemispherical zone delimited between the longitudinal axis (X) and the outer surface of the platform (3).
Vane retainer
A vane retainer for a gas turbine engine includes a retainer body, an inner surface of the retainer body to engage complimentary threads of a mating component, and a plurality of castellations located at an end of the retainer body for engagement with complementary installation tool features during installation of the vane retainer to the mating component. A gas turbine engine includes a combustor and a plurality of vane assemblies in fluid communication with the combustor. Each vane assembly includes a vane having an airfoil portion and a vane stem extending from the airfoil portion. The vane stem is inserted into a bushing. A vane retainer is engaged with the bushing and includes a retainer body, an inner surface of the retainer body to engage complimentary threads of the bushing, and a plurality of castellations located at an end of the retainer body for engagement with complementary installation tool features.
Propeller with passive variable pitch and rotatable base
In an embodiment, a propeller assembly includes a blade and a joint. The blade is adapted to rotate about a longitudinal axis of the blade to vary a pitch of the blade, wherein the blade includes a plurality of bearings provided on a proximal end of the blade. The joint is adapted to couple the blade to a central shaft of the assembly via the plurality of bearings, where the joint is adapted to telescope and twist along the central shaft of the assembly such that in a first position, the blade is at a first angle. In a second position, the blade is at a second angle greater than the first angle.
