IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive drum, a cleaning blade, and a movement mechanism. The movement mechanism reciprocates the photosensitive drum in an axial direction of the photosensitive drum in a specific cycle. The movement mechanism includes a first cam gear and a second cam gear. The first cam gear rotates about an axis of the photosensitive drum together with the photosensitive drum. The second cam gear is restricted in position in the axial direction and rotates at a rotational speed different from that of the first cam gear. The first and second cam gears each have a plurality of coaxial cam portions. When top points and bottom points of the respective cam portions come in contact with one another by turns, the photosensitive drum moves in the axial direction.
Determining the existence of point defects in print apparatuses
A print apparatus is disclosed. The print apparatus includes a photoconductive surface to receive a latent image representative of an image to be printed onto a printable substrate; a charging component to apply a voltage is to be applied to the photoconductive surface as the charging component moves relative to the photoconductive surface; and processing circuitry to receive data indicative of a measurement of a first current resulting from the voltage applied by the charging component; determine, responsive to detecting an increase in the measured first current relative to a reference current, the increase being greater than a first defined threshold current, that there exists a point defect under affecting the latent image; and generate instruction data responsive to determining that there exists a point defect under affecting the latent image. A method and a machine-readable medium are also disclosed.
Cleaning a silicon photoconductor
In an example implementation, a method of cleaning a silicon photoconductor includes contacting the silicon photoconductor with a base-peroxide solution, rinsing the silicon photoconductor with a liquid, and heating the silicon photoconductor to evaporate the liquid.
TRANSFER DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS INCORPORATING SAME
A transfer device includes an image bearer, a rotatable body, a solid lubricant assembly, and a guide. An image bearer bears an image. The rotatable body forms a transfer nip with the image bearer to rotate in contact with a recording medium. An image on the image bearer is transferred onto the recording medium at the transfer nip. The solid lubricant assembly includes a solid lubricant and extends in a longitudinal direction of the rotatable body. The solid lubricant assembly applies a solid lubricant to at least one of the rotatable body and the image bearer. The guide guides the recording medium and positions the solid lubricant assembly.
LUBRICANT METERING FOR PHOTOCONDUCTOR IN IMAGING DEVICE
An imaging device has a photoconductive drum with a surface that is selectively discharged to create a latent electrostatic image for attracting toner for transfer to a media moving in a process direction. The image is divided into multiple segments along the process direction and discharged pixels per segment are counted. An accumulator keeps track of the numbers of pixels per revolutions of a roller that applies the toner to the drum. Upon meeting a predetermined deficiency in the counts of pixels in any given segment, an artificial image gets generated on the surface of the photoconductive drum that supplies the missing pixels, per segment. The image gets developed with toner, but does not transfer to the media. Lubrication occurs on the surface of the drum and each segment retains a relatively common number of imaging pixels that get developed over time.
Image forming apparatus and lubricant discharge control method
An image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier; a developing unit which supplies a toner contained in a developer to the image carrier; a lubricant supply unit which supplies a lubricant to the image carrier; a lubricant amount detection unit which detects an amount of the lubricant which is supplied to the image carrier from the lubricant supply unit and is thereafter incorporated into the developing unit from the image carrier; and a control unit which controls the developing unit to discharge the lubricant from the developing unit according to the amount of the lubricant detected by the lubricant amount detection unit.
Solid lubricant, electrophotographic image forming apparatus, and image forming method
A solid lubricant is supplied to a surface of an image carrier of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The solid lubricant contains a fatty acid metal salt and polypropylene, and the polypropylene has an acid value of 1 mg KOH/g or more. The solid lubricant is a solid substance of a melt mold containing the fatty acid metal salt and the polypropylene.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An electrophotographic image forming apparatus includes a latent image bearer to rotate and bear a latent image, a charging device to charge the a latent image bearer, a developing device to develop the latent image with developer including toner and use a developing voltage including an AC component, and a lubricant applicator to apply lubricant onto a surface of the latent image bearer. An amount of the lubricant applied by the lubricant applicator onto the latent image bearer per centimeter in an axial direction of the latent image bearer is equal to or greater than 0.845 mg for a running distance of 1.0 kilometer of the latent image bearer, and a difference between a largest value and a smallest value of the developing voltage is in a range of 200 V to 400 V.
SOLID LUBRICANT APPLICATION DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMATION APPARATUS
A solid lubricant application device includes: a rotating body; a solid lubricant applied to the rotating body; a resilient urging member that causes the solid lubricant to abut toward a circumferential surface of the rotating body; and a guide mechanism that guides movement of the solid lubricant. When a straight line parallel to a direction in which the solid lubricant abuts against the rotating body is referred to as a first straight line, and a straight line parallel to a direction in which the resilient urging member and the solid lubricant are connected is referred to as a second straight line, the guide mechanism guides the movement of the solid lubricant such that an intersecting angle, which is a smaller one of angles formed by the first straight line and the second straight line, decreases as the solid lubricant is applied to the rotating body and accordingly changed in shape.
Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes a photoreceptor, a charging unit, an exposing unit, a developing unit, a transfer unit, a lubricant supply unit, a cleaning unit and a lubricant removal unit. The lubricant supply unit supplies a lubricant to a surface of the photoreceptor and is disposed at a point which is an upstream side of the cleaning unit and a downstream side of the developing unit in a rotation direction of the photoreceptor. The lubricant removal unit removes the lubricant from the surface of the photoreceptor and is disposed at a point which is the downstream side of the cleaning unit and the upstream side of the developing unit in the rotation direction of the photoreceptor.
