RFID location systems and methods
Systems and methods for locating radiofrequency identification (RFID) tags are described. In one embodiment, radiofrequency (RF) signals are transmitted from one or more RFID readers, and in accordance therewith, backscattered signals are received from a tag to be located. A plurality of measured position parameters are used to determine a location of the tag. In one embodiment, one reader may transmit and three readers may receive signals to determine the position of a tag. In other embodiments, multiple readers may transmit and receive. In another embodiment, one reader may transmit from different positions to locate a tag. Embodiments of the invention may be used to track a moving tag. A reader's position may be determined using GPS, reference tags, or the reader may be positioned in a known location. A map may be provided to a user to display the location or movement of a tag or a corresponding item.
REFERENCE SIGNAL RECEIVED POWER MEASUREMENT BASED ON PEAK OF EARLIEST PATH
In an aspect, a wireless node (e.g., UE, gNB, etc.) receives a reference signal for positioning (RS-P) over a respective bandwidth on one or more paths including an earliest path, and measures a reference signal received power (RSRP) associated with the earliest path of the RS-P based on a sum of energy on the respective bandwidth within at least one number of samples from a peak of the earliest path.
REDUCED OVERHEAD BEAM PROFILE PARAMETRIZATION
Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a receiving entity receives information that characterizes a set of positioning signals to be transmitted by a transmission/reception point (TRP) using a set of transmission beams, the information comprising at least one antenna element radiation pattern, at least one antenna element array configuration, and, for each beam in the set of transmission beams, information identifying at least one precoding matrix. The receiving entity performs measurements of the positioning signals transmitted by the TRP, and calculates at least one positioning measurement estimate based on at least some of the at least one antenna element radiation pattern, the at least one antenna element array configuration, the information identifying at least one precoding matrix, and the positioning measurements. The receiving entity sends positioning information to the TRP. The positioning information may include the at least one positioning measurement estimate.
INCREASED ANGLE OF DEPARTURE MEASUREMENT GRANULARITY
Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a receiving entity (RE), e.g., a user equipment or base station, receives a positioning resource beam configuration that defines a set of positioning resources, each positioning resource being transmitted by a transmission/reception point (TRP) at different times using different beams, each of the different beams having a set of beam characteristics that differs from the set of beam characteristics of another of the different beams in at least one beam characteristic. The RE performs positioning measurements on the different beams at the different times, at least based on the sets of beam characteristics, and sends positioning information to the TRP, the positioning information comprising at least some of the positioning measurements, a positioning estimate, or combinations thereof.
System and method for detecting occupants
The present disclosure relates to a system and method for detecting occupants, and more specifically, to a system and method for accurately detecting positions of occupants in a building using beacon signals.
Antenna soft switching solution of an AoD direction finding transmitter
The invention relates to an antenna soft switching system of an Angle of Departure, AoD, direction finding transmitter unit. The soft switching system comprises: a timing unit for obtaining at least a starting time of a switching event, a switching network arranged on a radio frequency, RF, signal path between an RF port and a first antenna port and a second antenna port, and a generator unit for generating at least one waveform for controlling the switching network. The generator unit is configured to control the switching network so that the amplitude of the RF signal is switched substantially smoothly from the first antenna port to the second antenna port so that level of unwanted emissions of a transmitted RF spectrum of the AoD directional finding transmitter unit are reduced. The invention relates also to an AoD direction finding transmitter unit comprising the antenna soft switching system and to an antenna soft switching method for an AoD directional finding transmitter unit.

Systems and methods for ultra-wideband-based angle of approach determination
Disclosed herein are related to a system and a method for determining an Angle of Approach (AoA) of a device. A first device may receive a report from a second device having a plurality of ultra-wideband (UWB) devices. The report may include a plurality of values comprising an elevation component and an azimuth component of the AoA from the first device. At least some of the plurality of values may be obtained according to measurements between the plurality of UWB devices of the second devices and the at least one UWB device of the first device. The first device may determine an AoA from the second device, using the plurality of values from the report received from the second device.

ELECTRONIC LOCATION DETERMINATION & TRACKING SYSTEM WITH VIRTUAL BEACON CLUSTERING
A system and method for identifying a person's location at a school, hotel, office, business, restaurant or other venue and tracking the movements of that person during their visit to the venue. One or more wireless virtual beacons communicate with the person's electronic device. The virtual beacons provide the system with real-time data about the person's whereabouts, allowing for the confirmation and tracking of the person at the location. A first non-limiting example of use, include a company that provides food and beverage allowing the person to place an order for food and beverages on their electronic device and having the order delivered to the person at their current location as determined by the system. Another non-limiting example includes a company performing analytics on the time and movement of its employees and customers.
