SIGNAL SOURCE ESTIMATION METHOD AND APPARATUS PERFORMING THE SAME

Disclosed is a signal source estimation method and apparatus performing the same, the signal source estimation method including acquiring first reception signals received by first receivers, among signals radiated from signal sources, selecting second receivers receiving reception signals to be used to estimate the signal sources, from among the first receivers based on the first reception signals, and detecting the number of signal sources based on second reception signals received by the second receivers.

MULTI-PATH MITIGATION IN TRACKING OBJECTS USING COMPRESSED RF DATA

A split architecture is disclosed for determining the location of a wireless device in a heterogeneous wireless communications environment. A detector within the device or another component of the environment receives signals including parameters for a localization signal of the device. The parameters describe known in advance signals within the signals. Additional metadata including each frame start of the signals and assistance data and auxiliary information are also received. The known in advance signals are detected based on the parameters of the localization signal. Samples extracted from the known in advance signals are then processed and compressed and sent with other collect data to a locate server remote from the detector. The location server uses that information as well as similar information about the environment to calculate the location of the device, as well as perform tracking and navigation of the device, and report such results to the environment.

An autonomous system with no Customer Network Investment is described, wherein the system is configurable to operate on in a band in addition to the LTE band. Such system allows the definition of hybrid operations to accommodate the positioning reference signals (PRS) of LTE and already existing reference signals. The system can operate with PRS, with other reference signals such as cell-specific reference signals (CRS), or with both signal types. As such, the system provides the advantage of allowing network operator(s) to dynamically choose between modes of operation depending on circumstances, such as network throughput and compatibility. The system further enables information collected at a network device to be processed at a locate server without involving any processing at the network device.

SLOT ARRAY ANTENNA

A slot array antenna includes: a first electrically conductive member having a first electrically conductive surface; a second electrically conductive member having a second electrically conductive surface opposed to the first electrically conductive surface; a waveguide member located between the first and second electrically conductive members; and an artificial magnetic conductor extending on both sides of the waveguide member in between the first and second electrically conductive members. The first or second electrically conductive member has a plurality of slots. The waveguide member includes an electrically-conductive waveguide face of a stripe shape opposed to the first electrically conductive surface. The plurality of slots include at least two slots that couple to the waveguide face. In between two positions respectively coupled to the two slots, the waveguide face includes at least one deflecting portion at which the direction that the waveguide face extends changes.

RF polarimeters with optical delay lines

Systems and methods are provided for determining a polarization state of an input RF signal. Two distinct RF antennas receive the input RF signal and output a first antenna signal and a second antenna signal. Polarizsations of the first and second antenna signals are orthogonal to one another. The first antenna signal is converted to a first optical signal, and the first optical signal is passed through a first optical signal to introduce a first delay. The delayed first optical signal is converted to a first RF signal. An amplitude ratio and a phase difference are determined between the first RF signal and a second RF signal that is associated with the second antenna and optionally includes a second delay. A polarization angle or polarization type of the input RF signal is determined based on the amplitude ratio and phase difference of the first and second RF signals.
