LOCATION SOURCE CONTROL
Techniques for location source control for paired devices are described. Location source control selects a location source for a mobile device. The mobile device can receive, from an application program, a request for determining a location of the mobile device. The mobile device can determine a first location estimate using a location subsystem of the mobile device. The mobile device can determine whether to provide the first location estimate as input to the application program, or to provide a second location estimate as input to the application program. The second location estimate can be an estimated location of the companion device and determined by the companion device.
Methods and apparatus for using received signal strength information in a wireless system
Disclosed are methods and systems for estimating a location of a wireless device. In some embodiments, received signal strength indication (RSSI) values of signals from a first wireless device are determined. A rate of motion of the first wireless device is then determined based on a rate at which the RSSI values vary with time. A machine learning model is conditionally updated based on the determined rate of motion, and path loss parameters are then derived from the machine learning model. The path loss parameters are used to estimate the location of the first wireless device.
Position determination apparatus, position determination system, and computer program product
A position determination apparatus includes a memory and a hardware processor coupled to the memory. The hardware processor: determines position information on one or more wireless communication devices being located within a target region; judges position movement of the one or more wireless communication devices based on the position information; and transmits, to the wireless communication device whose position movement has been judged to be absent, a decrease instruction signal that causes the wireless communication device to decrease a communication frequency of the wireless communication device.
Method and apparatus for tracking assets
A tracking device is described. The tracking device receives, from a management server, configuration parameters including a first data transmission rate and a second data transmission rate. The tracking device automatically enters into an active mode of the tracking device. When operating in an active mode, the tracking device, is operative to transmit, in response to determining based on first motion sensor measurements that the asset is stationary, first location data at the first data transmission rate. In response to determining, based on second motion sensor measurements and motion definition parameters, that the asset is mobile, the tracking device is operative to transmit, second location data of the asset at the second data transmission rate.
Method for estimating the position of an object
Methods and systems for estimating the position of an object such (as a vehicle) are disclosed. The method comprises transmitting a first V2X message from the object to a plurality of spaced apart units; and receiving a set of V2X response messages from at least two units in response to the first V2X message. Each response message comprises an identifier of the object, an identifier of the unit from which the response message was sent, and temporal information associated with the times of receiving a previous V2X message at the unit and transmitting a previous V2X response message from the unit. The position of the object is estimated based on the information contained in the set of V2X response messages and the times of transmitting the previous V2X message from the object and receiving the previous set of V2X response messages at the object.
MOTION DATA BASED PROCESSING TIME WINDOW FOR POSITIONING SIGNALS
An object position is estimated on the basis of at least one positioning signal (PBS) from a transmitter on an object (30). Motion data from a sensor on the object (30) are used as a basis for determining a processing time window. Processing of the at least one positioning signal (PBS) and/or positioning data (PD) derived from the at least one positioning signal is accomplished based on the determined processing time window. The transmitter and the sensor may be integrated in a tag device (10) attached to the object (30).

SYSTEM, DEVICE, AND METHOD OF NAVIGATION IN TRACKS
Devices, systems, and methods of navigation in tracks and trails. A system includes a smartphone or other portable electronic device. The system generates and provides navigation data and mapping data to travelers, particularly in walking trails; and generates a video clip or other multimedia presentation that incorporates trip data, images, audio, and a reconstructed map of the route. An administrator or operator of a nature center or an attraction or other venue, operates the system to obtain real-time information about travelers within the venue, and to selectively provide data and messages to some or all of such travelers.
Moving state determining device, electronic timepiece, moving state determining method, and storage device
A moving state determining device includes a receiver receiving radiowaves from a positioning satellite and a processor. The processor determines a moving state of a satellite radiowave receiving unit based on a motion state measured by a sensor which measures a motion state, and performs a positioning operation based on information received by the receiver to obtain a current position and an error range thereof. In determining the moving state, a positioning operation result obtained when the error range satisfies a predetermined accuracy standard can be used. The error range is calculated based on a positioning accuracy and a deviation of the obtained current position and a predicted position calculated in accordance with the moving state. The positioning accuracy is obtained by combining each position of positioning satellites from which radiowaves are received and each receiving state of the radiowaves.
