Wireless network controller and method of controlling a wireless network

An antenna apparatus for use in a wireless network and method of operating such an antenna apparatus are provided. A wireless network controller provides a configuration of such an antenna apparatus, a method of operating such a wireless network controller, and a resulting wireless network. The antenna apparatus comprises a directional antenna and a uniform circular antenna array. The directional antenna can be rotatably positioned about an axis with respect to a fixed mounting portion of the apparatus in dependence on wireless signals received by the antenna array. The antenna array allows the antenna apparatus to receive wireless signals isotropically and thus to accurately monitor the wireless signal environment in which it finds itself. The antenna apparatus can thus monitor and characterise incoming signals, both from external interference sources and from other network nodes, and the directional antenna can then be positioned in rotation to improve the network throughput.

A transmitter is also in logical communication with the antenna. A digital storage contains software executable upon demand via a processor in logical communication with the digital storage. The processor is operative via execution of the software to cause the apparatus to display a user interface on a visual display that includes a symbol indicating the direction of the reference transceiver in relation to the apparatus and a distance between the apparatus and the reference transceiver.

Systems and methods are provided to simultaneously determine both angle of arrival (AoA) and angle of departure (AoD) of a signal transmitted between two or more radio frequency (RF)-enabled wireless devices (e.g., such as BLE modules). The disclosed systems and methods may be so implemented in one embodiment to determine AoD even in the case where the transmitting wireless device is at the same time operating in a departure (or AoD) transmitting mode by transmitting a RF signal from multiple antenna elements of at least one switched antenna array using a given switching pattern or sequence implemented by an array switch.

SIGNALING FOR Z-ROTATION ESTIMATION

Certain aspects relate to techniques for z-axis rotation estimation for compensating signaling transmitted between two or more nodes over a wireless channel where an antenna array of at least one of the nodes is misaligned about the z-axis relative to another node. For example, a transmitting node may transmit pilot signals defined by phase shifts to provide a receiving node with a basis for estimating the angle of rotation by which the antenna arrays are misaligned. The transmitting node may then take remedial action to address the misalignment based on the estimation.

AGENT SUPPORTABLE DEVICE FOR POINTING TOWARDS AN ITEM OF INTEREST

An Agent supportable device for determining a direction of an item of interest. The Agent supportable device includes an antenna configured to communicate with the reference transceiver associated with the item of interest. A receiver in the Agent supportable device is in logical communication with the antenna. A transmitter is also in logical communication with the antenna. A digital storage contains software executable upon demand via a processor in logical communication with the digital storage. The processor is operative via execution of the software to cause the apparatus to display a user interface on a visual display that includes an arrow indicating a direction of the item of interest in relation to the apparatus and a distance between the apparatus and the item of interest.

Method and apparatus for display of digital content associated with a location in a wireless communications area

Methods and apparatus for display of digital content associated with a location in a wireless communications area. A user interface is generated with a digital representation of energy levels received into an energy receiving sensor, such as a CCD. The user interface includes interactive portions based upon positions in a wireless communication area. The interactive portions may be activated to display the digital content in a user interface.

Electromagnetic tracking with augmented reality systems

Head-mounted augmented reality (AR) devices can track pose of a wearer's head to provide a three-dimensional virtual representation of objects in the wearer's environment. An electromagnetic (EM) tracking system can track head or body pose. A handheld user input device can include an EM emitter that generates an EM field, and the head-mounted AR device can include an EM sensor that senses the EM field. EM information from the sensor can be analyzed to determine location and/or orientation of the sensor and thereby the wearer's pose. The EM emitter and sensor may utilize time division multiplexing (TDM) or dynamic frequency tuning to operate at multiple frequencies. Voltage gain control may be implemented in the transmitter, rather than the sensor, allowing smaller and lighter weight sensor designs. The EM sensor can implement noise cancellation to reduce the level of EM interference generated by nearby audio speakers.

Wireless measurement of linear and angular velocity and acceleration, and position, range, and orientation, via weakly-coupled quasistatic magnetic fields

Range and orientation of a transmitter and a receiver are found by detecting the magnetoquasistatic field couplings between coils at the transmitter and receiver. Sum functions and ratio functions are calculated for each of the unique magnetoquasistatic field couplings between the transmitter and the receiver. The sum and ratio functions are inverted to determine the drift-free range and orientation. Linear and angular velocity and acceleration are calculated by applying a filter to reduce noise, and then taking the corresponding derivatives.

Methods and apparatus for procedure tracking

Methods and apparatus for improving the provision of a procedure based upon automated determination of a location of agents and equipment during a procedure and quantifying conditions in an environment via automated sensors. The present invention provides apparatus and methods for wireless designation of a position of health care providers and equipment relative to each other based upon wireless communications amongst multiple wireless transceivers combined with ongoing monitoring of conditions present in a facility. The transceivers may be portions of nodes and nodes may form self-verifying arrays. A user interface may provide a augmented reality view of positions of all or some the providers and equipment and condition quantifying sensors.
