Radio frequency systems integrated with displays and methods of formation thereof
A radio frequency (RF) device includes a display screen and a flexible substrate. The display screen is configured to transmit visible light at a first side of the display screen. The flexible substrate includes a first portion overlapping the first side, and a second portion overlapping an opposite second side of the display screen. The RF device further includes a plurality of antennas disposed over the first portion of the flexible substrate and the first side, and a transmission line disposed on a bent region of the flexible substrate between the first and second portions. The plurality of antennas is configured to transmit/receive RF signals on the first side of the display screen. The display screen is opaque to the RF signals. The transmission line is configured to propagate the RF signals between the first portion and the second portion on the opposite second side of the display screen.

A sensor cluster device including a radar sensor configured to emit electromagnetic waves onto an object and receive the electromagnetic waves reflected from the object so as to acquire information on the object, a lidar sensor configured to emit laser beams onto the object and receive the laser beams reflected from the object so as to acquire information on the object, a camera sensor configured to capture an image of surroundings of the object and acquire information from the captured image, and an infrared sensor configured to detect heat radiated from peripheral objects in the surroundings of the object to acquire the object and the peripheral objects.
POLYHEDRAL SENSOR CALIBRATION TARGET FOR CALIBRATING MULTIPLE TYPES OF SENSORS
A polyhedral sensor target includes multiple surfaces. A housing, such as a vehicle, may include a camera and a distance measurement sensor, such as a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) sensor. The housing may move between different positions during calibration, for instance by being rotated atop a turntable. The camera and distance measurement sensor may both capture data during calibration, from which visual and distance measurement representations of the polyhedral sensor target are identified. The camera and distance measurement sensor are calibrated based on their respective representations, for example by mapping vertices within the representations to the same location.
Efficient Autonomous Trucks
The technology relates to enhancing the operation of autonomous vehicles. Extendible sensors are deployed based on detected or predicted conditions around a vehicle while operating in a self-driving mode. When not needed, the sensors are fully retracted into the vehicle to reduce drag and increase fuel economy. When the onboard system determines that there is a need for a deployable sensor, such as to enhance the field of view of the perception system, the sensor is extended in a predetermined manner. The deployment may depend on one or more operating conditions and/or particular driving scenarios. These and other sensors of the vehicle may be protected with a rugged housing, for instance to protect against damage from the elements. And in other situations, deployable foils may extend from the vehicle's chassis to increase drag and enhance braking. This may be helpful for large trucks in steep descent situations.
Systems and methods for providing wide beam radar arrays
Systems and methods for providing wide field-of-view radar arrays. Quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) beam forming reduces side lobes by applying a phase shift to transmitted signals to selected transmitting antennas. Super-hemispherical radar coverage at high gain in both broadside and end-fire directions is provided by beam directing elements mounted to a printed circuit board.

A measuring device, configured to detect a process variable in a container, is provided, the measuring device including: electronic circuitry with a housing and a sealing abutting the housing, the measuring device being further configured to be arranged in a container opening, and when the measuring device is arranged in the container opening: the sealing is configured to seal the container opening, and the electronic circuitry is arranged below a geometric plane of the sealing. A container including a container opening and the measuring device is also provided.

Radar transparent decorative plate for the front grille of a motor vehicle, of the monobloc type with a first layer of PMMA transparent to light, like a smooth lens with decorative elements in relief on the back, and an overmoulded second layer of opaque ABS-PC or opaque ABS that compensates for the height thereof simultaneously realizing a support with integrated fastening elements and a masking background. On the back is a particular decorative treatment having an ultra-thin metallization layer with a thickness of less than 0.05 micrometres, on which a shadowing layer with an anti-transparency effect is superimposed. Embodiment variants are provided in which the decorative elements have a three-dimensional appearance obtained from a mould by means of cavities in the head or with a shading optical effect.

A roof module for forming a motor vehicle roof, the roof module having a panel component whose outer surface at least partially forms a roof skin of the vehicle roof, the roof module having at least one environment sensor configured to send and/or receive electromagnetic signals for detecting the vehicle environment. The environment sensor is disposed below the roof skin formed by the panel component, the roof module having a cooler configured to discharge exhaust heat emitted by the environment sensor and/or heat introduced from outside from the environment sensor.
