OPPORTUNISTIC SONAR MONITORING OF VITAL SIGNS
20220409090 · 2022-12-29 · ·

Various arrangements for sonar-based vital sign monitoring are presented herein. A mobile device may be determined to be stationary. In response, sonar-based movement sensing can be activated. Sonar data can then be captured in response to activating the sonar-based movement sensing. A breathing pattern can be detected in the sonar data and used to collect respiration data about a user.

COMPUTATION OF PARAMETERS OF A BODY USING AN ELECTRIC FIELD

In some embodiments, an electric field generator generates an electric field at a nominal frequency. A detector measures, at multiple time points during a measuring period, one or more properties of the generated electric field. In various embodiments, the one or more properties of the electric field change over time due to interactions with a human body in a reactive near-field region of the electric field. From the measured one or more properties, a computation unit determines one or more periodic behaviors (such as a respiration or heartbeat) and one or more non-periodic behaviors (such as movement of a limb). The computation unit also computes, from at least one of the periodic and non-periodic behaviors, one or more physiological parameters of the human body. From the one or more physiological parameters, the computation unit detects one or more symptoms of a condition of the human body.

Enabling Ride Sharing During Pandemics

The disclosed technology provides solutions for protecting the health of ride-sharing passengers by detecting passenger illnesses, and taking precautions to safely address potentially exposed vehicles. A process of the disclosed technology can include steps for: collecting sensor-data corresponding with one or more AV passengers, determining a likelihood that at least one of the AV passengers is suffering from a physical illness, and transmitting a wellness notification to a fleet management system if the likelihood exceeds a predetermined threshold. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Device, system and method for detecting a cardiac and/or respiratory disease of a subject

The present invention relates to device, system and method for detecting a cardiac and/or respiratory disease of a subject. The proposed device comprises a sound input (20) for obtaining a sound signal representing sounds generated by the subject's body; a motion input (21) for obtaining a motion signal representing motions generated by the subject's body; and a processor (22) for processing the obtained sound signal and motion signal. This processing includes identifying inhalation and/or exhalation periods of the subject based on the motion signal, detecting abnormal lung sounds during inhalation and/or exhalation periods based on the sound signal, determining abnormal lung sound characteristics of the detected abnormal lung sounds, determining breathing characteristics of the subject's breathing based on the sound signal, determining the phase of the abnormal lung sounds in the inhalation-exhalation cycle, and detecting a cardiac and/or respiratory disease of the subject based on the determined abnormal lung sound characteristics, the determined breathing characteristics and the determined phase of the abnormal lung sounds in the inhalation-exhalation cycle.

Signal processing device, radar system, and signal processing method

Provided is a signal processing device capable of distinguishing and measuring a plurality of measurement targets even with simple configuration. The signal processing device including a reception processing unit that receives a response to a predetermined signal transmitted from a transmission antenna, and a determination unit that determines the plurality of measurement targets by a response to a plurality of signals corresponding to a second direction having a predetermined range different from a first direction having a predetermined range.

BAND WITH BUILT-IN STIMULATOR

A system includes a collar that is worn around a neck of the user. A stimulator is coupled to the collar such that the stimulator is positioned adjacent to an airway of the user. The sensor is coupled to the collar and configured to generate data associated with the airway of the user. The memory is coupled to the collar and storing machine-readable instructions. The control system is coupled to the collar and includes one or more processors configured to execute the machine-readable instructions to determine, based at least on an analysis of the generated data, that the user is currently experiencing an apnea event. In response to the determination, the control system causes the stimulator to provide electrical stimulation, at a first intensity level, to one or more muscles of the user that are adjacent to the airway to aid in stopping the apnea event.

SYSTEM FOR SENSING AN OPERATOR'S CAPACITIVE STATE

Methods and systems are provided for measuring the capacitive state of an operator. The method includes placing an matrix array of pressure detection sensors in physical contact with the individual. The matrix array is integrated into the seat of the operator and continually measures the operator's presence and movement in the seat based on data received from the matrix array of pressure detection sensors. The breathing, movement and actigraphy patterns of the operator are measured and calculated based on the data received from the matrix array of pressure detection sensors. The breathing, movement and actigraphy patterns of the operator are continually analyzed to determine the capacitive state of the operator.

System and method for detecting motion sickness

In order to help reduce the effects of motion sickness, there is provided a method for reducing motion sickness in a subject which comprises acquiring a sequence of video images, extracting measurements of a heart-rate of the subject over a first period of time from the sequence of video images using photoplethysmography (PPG), calculating at least one trend in the measurements, determining a presence of motion sickness when the at least one trend is positive over a first time window, the first time window being included in the first period of time, and generating an event arranged to generate a corrective action. It is often possible to detect the onset of motion sickness before the subject actually feels the symptoms. Indeed, by the time the symptoms appear, corrective action is much less effective. Therefore, by detecting the onset early and alerting the subject so that they can react, it is possible to avoid the attack of motion sickness or, at least, reduce significantly its effects.

Biopsy apparatus and system

Certain aspects relate to biopsy apparatuses, systems and techniques for biopsy using a biopsy pattern. Some aspects relate to moving a distal portion of a medical instrument to one or more sample locations of the biopsy pattern and guiding the instrument to obtain tissue samples from the sample locations within the biopsy pattern. Some aspects relate to obtaining the biopsy pattern and adjusting the sample locations within the biopsy pattern based on various factors such as anatomical features.
