SYSTEMS, CATHETERS, AND METHODS FOR TREATING ALONG THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
Systems, catheters, and methods for accessing and treating along the central nervous system are disclosed. An example method may manage inflammation of the patient to treat a condition of the patient by processing values related to one or more physiological parameters of a patent, identifying when an inflammation condition of the patient has reached a treatment condition based on the processed values, and automatically providing an indication that the inflammation condition has reached the treatment condition. An example indication may include actuation of a treatment protocol. The example method may be performed with an inflammation management system.
EMG Guidance for Probe Placement, Nearby Tissue Preservation, and Lesion Confirmation
A system and method for locating a target nerve associated with a facet joint via nerve stimulation and monitoring of electrical muscle activity in a multifidus muscle adjacent the target nerve are described. The system includes a probe housed within a cannula and comprising a probe electrode; a recording electrode for monitoring electrical muscle activity in a medial fascicle of the multifidus muscle; a signal generator; and a controller coupled to the probe electrode and recording electrode. The controller delivers a nerve stimulation from the signal generator to the nerve via the probe electrode and monitors electrical muscle activity in the medial fascicle via the recording electrode. The probe's proximity to the nerve is determined by the electrical muscle activity in the medial fascicle elicited as a result of the nerve stimulation, where the controller provides feedback to a user to guide placement of the probe adjacent the nerve.
NEUROPHYSIOLOGIC MONITORING SYSTEM
The present invention relates to a system and methods generally aimed at surgery. More particularly, the present invention is directed at a system and related methods for performing surgical procedures and assessments involving the use of neurophysiology.
Methods of Treating Meniere's Disease
Methods of treating a human patient suffering from Eustachian tube malfunctions are provided. A nasal spray or pharmaceutical composition containing a therapeutically effective amount of betahistine is administered to the patient. The nasal spray or pharmaceutical composition has particular applicability to alleviate the symptoms of Meniere's disease in persons suffering from abnormal Eustachian tube function, but also has an applicability to beneficially improve vascular oxygenation of the inner ear.
Multi-shield spinal access system
An access device for accessing an intervertebral disc having an outer shield comprising an access shield with a larger diameter (16-30 mm) that reaches from the skin down to the facet line, with an inner shield having a second smaller diameter (5-12 mm) extending past the access shield and reaches down to the disc level. This combines the benefits of the direct visual microsurgical/mini open approaches and the percutaneous, ultra-MIS techniques.
Magnetic resonance imaging apparatus extracting an intervertebral disk region based on sagittalimages of a subject
A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus according to an embodiment includes a processor and memory. The memory stores processor-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to extract, based on a plurality of sagittal images at least including an intervertebral disk of a subject, an intervertebral disk region spanning across the plurality of sagittal images from spines visualized in the plurality of sagittal images; and set an imaging region of an intervertebral disk image based on the intervertebral disk region.
SPINE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREFOR
A spine measurement system comprises an optical measurement probe, one or more targets, a fluoroscope, and a remote station. A-P and lateral images of the spine are taken using the fluoroscope and provided to the remote station. The remote station includes computer vision that can identify endplates and pedicle screws in the spine. The computer vision in the remote station is further used to identify vertebra and bone landmarks of the spine. The remote station can generate quantitative measurement data such as Cobb angles and axial rotation of the spine from the fluoroscope images that correspond to the spine deformity. The optical measurement probe can send images of the spine with pedicle screw extenders extending from the pedicle screws to the remote station. The remotes station using computer vision can provide spine metrics in real-time by tracking position of the pedicle screw extenders.
System And Related Method for Positioning of Surgically Implanted Neuro Stimulation Device Electrodes
A system is provided for connecting a surgically implantable neurostimulation device to an neurophysiological monitoring device. The system includes an apparatus connecting the neurophysiological monitoring device to the implanted neurostimulation device. The connecting apparatus includes a port couplable to the neurostimulation device and a plurality of electrode pin connectors extending from the port that are connectable to the neurophysiologic monitoring device. Using the connecting apparatus, signals from the neurophysiologic monitoring device can be transmitted for stimulation and responses can be transmitted to the neurophysiologic monitoring device to enable accurate positioning of electrodes of the neurostimulation device.
Image directed method and system for outlining anatomical regions
A method for detecting and creating magnetic resonance imaging anatomical outlines of a subject, including acquiring magnetic resonance imaging signals of a selected region of interest of the subject's anatomy, processing the magnetic resonance imaging signals to determine image pixel intensity. calculating a mean intensity value associated with the center location of the selected region of interest, and determining concentric interior and exterior anatomical outlines surrounding the center location. Image pixels with an intensity value greater than the mean intensity value by a first threshold amount are designated as part of the interior anatomical outline. Image pixels with an intensity value less than the mean intensity value by a second threshold amount are designated as part of the exterior anatomical outline.
