DETERMINATION OF STIMULATION PARAMETERS FOR MUSCLE ACTIVATION
Computer-implemented systems and methods for determining epidural spinal stimulation parameters that promote muscle activation use spectral analysis and machine learning techniques to characterize electromyography data.
Micro deviation detection device
A early detection device to diagnose scoliosis in adolescents without exposure to harmful x-rays provides a portable, accurate and inexpensive hand-held diagnostic tool to determine deviations from the Cobb Angle in the spine, the detection device connecting to a receiver unit to receive data obtained from the detection device completing the diagnostic testing for visual review and diagnosis on the receiver unit. It is also provided in alternative embodiment to test the integrity of structural components in various industries, including surface irregularities and defects and cracks in beams and wall, pipes or beams.
Pledget stimulation and recording electrode assemblies
Aspects of the disclosure relate to pledget stimulation/recording electrode assemblies that are particularly useful for automatic periodic stimulation. Embodiments are compatible with nerve monitoring systems to provide continuous stimulation of a nerve during surgery. Disclosed embodiments include an electrode assembly having one or more electrodes rotatably supported by and positioned within a pledget substrate. The flexible pledget substrate conforms and fixates to bioelectric tissue to secure the electrode assembly in position, wrapped around the target tissue. In some embodiments, the pledget substrate includes two bodies, each including at least one electrode, the two bodies being selectively separable so that the bodies can be repositioned with respect to one another. The electrode assembly further includes a lead wire assembly including at least one insulating jacket positioned around a wire core. Optionally, the electrode assembly includes an insulating cup interconnecting the electrode and the insulating jacket.
Intrathecal catheter with means to measure quality of drug dispersion
A method of determining a local cerebrospinal fluid flow rate. The method including the steps of positioning a distal end of the catheter in a flow of cerebrospinal fluid of the patient, the catheter including an infusion port and at least one temperature sensor positioned at a fixed distance from the infusion port, infusing a bolus of a temperature controlled fluid through the infusion port into the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, and monitoring a temperature sensed by the at least one temperature sensor, wherein a change in the temperature sensed by the at least one temperature sensor over time is representative of a local cerebrospinal fluid flow rate in proximity to the infusion port.
Multi-shield spinal access system
An access device for accessing an intervertebral disc having an outer shield comprising an access shield with a larger diameter (˜16-30 mm) that reaches from the skin down to the facet line, with an inner shield having a second smaller diameter (˜5-12 mm) extending past the access shield and reaches down to the disc level. This combines the benefits of the direct visual microsurgical/mini open approaches and the percutaneous, “ultra-MIS” techniques.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING EVOKED COMPOUND ACTION POTENTIAL (ECAP) FEATURES IN RESPONSE TO NEUROSTIMULATION
Systems and methods are disclosed for conducting spinal cord stimulation or other neurostimulation and sensing evoked compound action potential (ECAP) signals. The sensed signals may be processed to isolate ECAP features from noise and/or interfering signals. The isolated ECAP features may be used to control neurostimulation therapy for the patient and/or guide an implant procedure.
Systems and methods for performing neurophysiologic monitoring during spine surgery
A neuromonitoring system utilizes transcutaneous, trans-abdominal nerve root stimulation to monitor the health and status of the motor neural pathways of the lower extremities during the portions of a surgical procedure in which a tissue retraction assembly is used to maintain an operative corridor. A method of monitoring the status of nerve during a spinal surgical procedure delivers a transcutaneous, trans-abdominal stimulation signal to the spine. A determination is made of a stimulation threshold required to elicit a neuromuscular response from the stimulation signal.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ANALYZING A CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM BASED ON BRAINSTEM STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS
Some methods of analyzing one or more sections of a central nervous system of a patient comprise, for each of the section(s), from data the includes one or more 3D representations of the section, segmenting each of the 3D representation(s) into ventral and dorsal portions and, for at least one of the 3D representation(s), determining a mean curvature of at least a region of a surface of the dorsal portion and/or a mean curvature of at least a region of a surface of the ventral portion. Each of the section(s) can include at least a portion of a brainstem of the patient.
DENERVATION THERAPY
Example systems and techniques for denervation, for example, renal denervation. In some examples, a processor determines one or more tissue characteristics of tissue proximate a target nerve and a blood vessel. The processor may generate, based on the one or more tissue characteristics, an estimated volume of influence of denervation therapy delivered by a therapy delivery device disposed within the blood vessel. The processor may generate a graphical user interface including a graphical representation of the tissue proximate the target nerve and the blood vessel and a graphical representation of the estimated volume of influence.
ROOT CAUSE CURE AND PREVENTATIVE MEASURE FOR SCHIZOPHRENIA AND OTHER MENTAL ILLNESS
A method and system for treating schizophrenia and other forms of mental illness, including: given a brain comprising neurons coupled by an axon including an inner core and an outer myelin sheath, and given one or more defects in the outer myelin sheath, repairing the one or more defects in the outer myelin sheath with one or more of a protein and a lipid such that the outer myelin sheath has a substantially constant electrical impedance for the transmission of data energy between the neurons and such that data energy is not undesirably reflected from the direction of a receiving neuron in the direction of a transmitting neuron within the axon.
