Novel Method and Device for Urinary Catheter Placement
A new method and device that allows for easy and quick placement of a urinary catheter into the bladder of a female dog whereby only the catheter is left behind.
URINARY CATHETER
A urinary catheter is described that can be retained inside the body for extended periods. A catheter mating device can connect to the catheter to move the catheter inside of the body or remove it from the body. The catheter includes one or more of: (1) a retention portion having an outer cover, an inner cavity, and at least one structure in the inner cavity that exerts outward force on the outer cover, and (2) an extendable flap at the catheter's distal end. The retention portion and/or extendable flap each are configured to retain the catheter in the proper position inside of a user's body.
Urinary Catheter
A catheter comprising: a shaft (1) having a proximal end (2) and a distal end (3), the distal end terminating in a tip (4); a drainage opening (7) located at the distal end of the shaft, the drainage opening communicating with a drainage lumen (8) of the shaft; a balloon located at the distal end of the shaft, the balloon comprising a first region secured to the shaft, a second region secured to the shaft and an elastic-walled conduit extending between the first region and the second region, the elastic conduit extending over the tip.
DUAL-PURPOSE URINARY CATHETER DRAIN LINE AND COLLECTION BAG
A sterile dual-purpose closed intermittent urinary catheter system that may be used as either a drain line or a collection bag. A catheter resides within an inner cavity of an extensible sheath and may be extracted from a forward end through an outlet hub for insertion into the urethra. A valve at a rearward end of the sheath may be opened to permit the sheath to function as a drain line, or closed to permit the sheath to function as a collection bag. The sheath has an extended length substantially longer than the catheter length, and may be compressed in an accordion fashion or folded to a compact packaged shape. The urine may be collected in the sheath with the valve closed, or drained straight into a toilet with the valve open. The system may have a source of lubrication to wet the catheter.
URINARY CATHETER FOR FACILITATING CONTROL OF BLADDER CONTENT VOLUME AND METHODS FOR USE THEREOF
An exemplary catheter can be provided which can include, for example, a first inflation arrangement configured, in operation, to substantially seal and/or anchor the catheter inside the bladder when inflated, a second inflation arrangement configured, in operation, to substantially float in urine when inflated, wherein the second arrangement can be located at a predetermined distance from the first inflation arrangement, and an aperture provided between the first inflation arrangement and the second inflation arrangement, where the first and second arrangements can cause the aperture to be (i) open when the second inflation arrangement can be located at a first position relative to the first inflation arrangement, and (ii) closed when the second inflation arrangement can be located at a second position relative to the first inflation arrangement, and where the second position can be different than the first position.
INTRAVESICAL DRUG DELIVERY DEVICES AND METHODS INCLUDING ELASTIC POLYMER-DRUG MATRIX SYSTEMS
Intravesical drug delivery devices are provided which may include an elongated body formed of a matrix system of a drug dispersed in a silicone, wherein the elongated body has a first end, an opposed second end, and an intermediate portion between the first and second ends, and wherein the silicone of the matrix system is cured to bias the elongated body in a coiled retention shape, such that the device is elastically deformable between a relatively straightened shape suited for insertion of the device through a urethra and into the urinary bladder of a patient and the coiled retention shape which is suited to retain the device within the urinary bladder.
INTRAVESICAL DRUG DELIVERY DEVICES AND METHODS INCLUDING ELASTIC POLYMER-DRUG MATRIX SYSTEMS
Intravesical drug delivery devices are provided which may include an elongated body formed of a matrix system of a drug dispersed in a silicone, wherein the elongated body has a first end, an opposed second end, and an intermediate portion between the first and second ends, and wherein the silicone of the matrix system is cured to bias the elongated body in a coiled retention shape, such that the device is elastically deformable between a relatively straightened shape suited for insertion of the device through a urethra and into the urinary bladder of a patient and the coiled retention shape which is suited to retain the device within the urinary bladder.
CATHETER COLLECTION SYSTEM
A catheter collection system having a tube with a first end and a second end connected to a collection bag with a connection member. Disposed within the tube is a check valve which permits fluid flow from a patient's bladder to the collection bag and prevents fluid flow from the collection bag back to the patient. The tube is connected to the catheter and attached to the catheter is a stop.
DRUG-COATED BALLOON CATHETERS FOR BODY LUMENS
Various embodiments disclosed relate to drug-coated balloon catheters for treating strictures in body lumens and methods of using the same. A drug-coated balloon catheter for delivering a therapeutic agent to a target site of a body lumen stricture includes an elongated balloon having a main diameter. The balloon catheter includes a coating layer overlying an exterior surface of the balloon. The coating layer includes one or more water-soluble additives and an initial drug load of a therapeutic agent.
Drug Delivery Devices and Methods for Use with a Urinary Catheter
Drug delivery devices (200) and methods of their use are provided. In one embodiment, a drug delivery device (200) for use with a urinary catheter (100) includes a drug reservoir configured to be disposed outside of a patients body, and a flexible elongate body (220) attached to the drug reservoir (230) and configured to traverse the patients urethra to reach the bladder. The drug reservoir (230) includes a drug chamber (234) containing a drug therein, a fluid chamber (236) containing a fluid therein, and an osmotic barrier (238) separating the drug chamber (234) and the fluid chamber (236). The body includes a drug delivery lumen (222) extending therethrough and in fluid communication with the drug chamber (234).
