METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SCANNING AND PRINTING A 3D OBJECT
A smartphone may be freely moved in three dimensions as it captures a stream of images of an object. Multiple image frames may be captured in different orientations and distances from the object and combined into a composite image representing an three-dimensional image of the object. The image frames may be formed into the composite image based on representing features of each image frame as a set of points in a three dimensional depth map. Coordinates of the points in the depth map may be estimated with a level of certainty. The level of certainty may be used to determine which points are included in the composite image. The selected points may be smoothed and a mesh model may be formed by creating a convex hull of the selected points. The mesh model and associated texture information may be used to render a three-dimensional representation of the object on a two-dimensional display. Additional techniques include processing and formatting of the three-dimensional representation data to be printed by a three-dimensional printer so a three-dimensional model of the object may be formed.
VIRTUAL 3D METHODS, SYSTEMS AND SOFTWARE
Methods, systems and computer program products (“software”) enable a virtual three-dimensional visual experience (referred to herein as “V3D”) in videoconferencing and other applications, and capturing, processing and displaying of images and image streams.
OPTICAL IMAGING SYSTEM AND METHODS THEREOF
An optical imaging system to image a target object includes a light source configured to emit one or more light rays to illuminate the target object and an image detector configured to capture a three-dimensional topography image of the target object when emitted light is emitted from the target object in response to being illuminated by the light rays emitted by the light source. A fluorescence image detector captures a fluorescence image of the target object when fluorescence is emitted from the target object in response illumination by light rays emitted by the light source. A controller instructs the image detector to capture the 3D topography image and the fluorescence image detector to detect the fluorescence image of the target object intraoperatively and to co-register and simultaneously display intraoperatively the co-registered topography and fluorescence information to the user via a display.

Estimating a condition of a physical structure
In a computer-implemented method and system for capturing the condition of a structure, the structure is scanned with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Data collected by the UAV corresponding to points on a surface of a structure is received and a 3D point cloud is generated for the structure, where the 3D point cloud is generated based at least in part on the received UAV data. A 3D model of the surface of the structure is reconstructed using the 3D point cloud.

Three dimensional scanning system and framework
A method and corresponding system for reconstructing the surface geometry of a three-dimensional object is disclosed. The system comprises a cluster of heterogeneous sensors, including a two-dimensional high-resolution camera and a three-dimensional depth camera, and a turntable operable to rotate incrementally. In operation, the turntable is rotated to first and second positions and two-dimensional and three-dimensional data sets are obtained using the two-dimensional high-resolution camera and the three-dimensional depth camera. Corresponding features from the two-dimensional data sets are identified and used to identify the same corresponding features in the three-dimensional data sets. The three-dimensional corresponding features are used to calculate a three-dimensional homography, which is used to align the three-dimensional data sets. Following alignment, a three-dimensional mesh is generated from the aligned data sets.
