This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for implementing an arrangement of electromechanical switches. In one aspect, the arrangement includes rings of electromechanical switches configured to provide access to communication processing channels and redundancy access rows of electromechanical switches configured to provide access to redundant communication processing channels.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUS FDMA-TDMA CHANNEL ACCESS

A transmitter is set to time division multiple access (TDMA) mode and allocated a first TDMA channel. In the TDMA mode, the additional TDMA channels are allocated to and deallocated from the transmitter, according a traffic demand at the transmitter, until all TDMA channels are assigned and the traffic demand reaches a threshold, whereupon the transmitter is switched to a frequency division multiple access (FDMA) mode, and assigned an FDMA channel. In response to traffic levels, the transmitter is switched to larger bandwidth FDMA channels and, optionally, to a concurrent FDMA-TDMA mode having a large bandwidth FDMA channel in addition to a number of TDMA channels. Optionally, switching the transmitter among TDMA mode, FDMA mode, and concurrent FDMA-TDMA mode is based, at least in part, on QoS, or time of day, or user statistics, or combinations thereof.

A communication system including a communication platform, and a downlink communication module connected to the communication platform and having a matrix power amplifier, the matrix power amplifier including an input hybrid matrix, an output hybrid matrix, a bank of high power amplifiers disposed between and in communication with at least the input hybrid matrix and the output hybrid matrix, and a bank of adjusters disposed between and in communication with at least the input hybrid matrix and the output hybrid matrix. The communication system further includes a driver circuit connected to each adjuster in the bank of adjusters, the driver circuit being configured to command each adjuster to modify communication signals, passing through the matrix power amplifier, at time division multiple access rates.

A relay apparatus includes a reception analog filter that extracts a desired signal from a received signal, an A/D converter that converts the signal after passage through the reception analog filter into a digital signal, a demultiplexing unit that demultiplexes the digital signal converted by the A/D converter into m signals, a reception-side compensating unit that digitally compensates for an analog characteristic of the reception analog filter with respect to the m signals demultiplexed by the demultiplexing unit, and a multiplexing unit that multiplexes the m signals digitally compensated by the reception-side compensating unit. The reception-side compensating unit further demultiplexes each of x signals not sufficiently compensated among the digitally-compensated m signals into k signals, digitally compensates for the analog characteristic of the reception analog filter, and multiplexes the k signals after the digital compensation.
