Lancet device with depth adjustment and lancet removal system and method
Lancet device includes a housing, a removable front cap mounted to the housing, a lancet holding member, and a trigger. A system is utilized for placing the lancet device in a trigger-set or armed position. A depth adjustment system includes a member that is at least partially rotatably mounted and that has an axis of rotation arranged substantially perpendicular to a center axis of the lancet holding member. An ejection system is utilized for at least one of preventing axial movement of the lancet holding member and removing or ejecting a lancet from the lancet holding member.
LATCH MECHANISM FOR PREVENTING LANCET OSCILLATION IN A LANCING DEVICE
A lancing device including a latch that pivots between a non-blocking position allowing a lancet carrier and a lancet to advance and retract through a first forward and reverse lancing stroke and a blocking position preventing further/excess/secondary oscillation of the lancet carrier and lancet. The pivotal latch can pivot about an axis perpendicular (e.g., for an L-shaped latch) or parallel/coaxial (e.g., for a sleeve latch) to the advancement and retraction motion of the lancet carrier and lancet.
Medical device inserters and processes of inserting and using medical devices
An apparatus for insertion of a medical device in the skin of a subject is provided, as well as methods of inserting medical devices.
Depth-adjust mechanism for lancing device
A lancing device with a depth-adjustment mechanism including an adjustably-positioned stop surface, a movable control member operably coupled thereto, and a resiliently deflectable leg that engages the stop surface and a lancet carrier to provide a soft stop for the lancet carrier. The lancet carrier deflects the leg in a forward phase of the lancing stroke, and then the leg contacts the stop surface to stop the forward motion of the lancet carrier at an extended lancing position. The stop surface can be adjustably positioned so that different portions thereof are engaged to stop the lancet carrier at deeper or shallower positions. In example embodiments, the depth-adjustment mechanism includes a rotary dial and an extension arm of the leg, with the dial including a rotary wheel and a rotary shaft extending axially therefrom, the wheel forming the movable adjustment member, and the shaft forming the adjustably positioned stop surface.
Puncturing system
Disclosed is a puncturing system for generating a puncture wound for obtaining a sample of a body fluid, comprising a press-on part to be pressed onto a body part in which a puncture wound is to be generated, a trigger, by the actuation of which a user can trigger a puncturing motion of a puncturing element after the press-on part is pressed on, and a testing facility for determining at least one test parameter on which a sample-obtaining probability depends. A securing facility is also provided that, in a locked state, locks the trigger such that no puncturing motion can be triggered, and, in a triggering state, releases the trigger such that a puncturing motion can be triggered by actuation thereof, whereby the securing facility is transitioned from the locked state to the triggering state by the testing facility when the test parameter determined by the testing facility meets defined minimum requirements. A signaling facility is also provided for signaling a transition of the securing facility to the triggering state and/or for signaling that the securing facility is in the triggering state. Also disclosed is a method for preparing a puncturing system for generating a puncture wound.
Biological information measurement cartridge and measurement device using same
A rectangular parallelepiped-shaped cartridge main body having a protective cap removably attached to a first end side thereof has a puncture needle retainer that retains a puncture needle provided at the back of a puncture opening provided on the first end side of the cartridge main body such that the puncture needle is slidable toward the puncture opening. Furthermore, a sensor unit having a depositing opening is provided on the first end side of the cartridge main body. The sensor unit has an introduction promoting hole that communicates with an introduction channel communicating with the depositing opening and that opens to the surface of the cartridge main body. The protective cap is provided with a puncture needle protector that covers the puncture needle, a sensor protector that covers the depositing opening of the sensor unit, and a sensor protector that covers the introduction promoting hole.
Dermal patch system
A system for collecting a physiological sample includes a dermal patch configured for attaching to a subject's skin and an applicator for coupling to the dermal patch. The dermal patch includes a reservoir configured to store a processing fluid, a sample collection chamber for receiving the processing fluid and a physiological sample extracted from a subject. The applicator includes at least one actuating lever for activating the dermal patch to receive the physiological sample from the subject and directing the physiological sample into the sample collection chamber.
MEDICAL DEVICE INSERTERS AND PROCESSES OF INSERTING AND USING MEDICAL DEVICES
An apparatus for insertion of a medical device in the skin of a subject is provided, as well as methods of inserting medical devices. Embodiments include removing a substantially cylindrical cap from an inserter to expose a substantially cylindrical sleeve, removing a cover from a substantially cylindrical container holding sensor components, and fitting the sensor components into the inserter.
DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A point-of-care diagnostic system that includes a cartridge and a reader. The cartridge can contain a patient sample, such as a blood sample. The cartridge is inserted into the reader and the patient sample is analyzed. The reader contains various analysis systems, such as an electrophoresis detection system that uses electrophoresis testing to identify and quantify various components of the blood sample. The reader can process data from the various patient sample analysis to provide interpretative results indicative of a disorder, condition, disease and/or infection of the patient.
Electrode layout for blood test sensor strip
An improved electrode layout for a continuous strip sensor is provided which reduces misalignment of the electrodes with the contacts which read the position of the strip. Better contact with the electrodes reduces or eliminates transient signals between stop positions of the sensor strip.
