Extraction technique for recovering an organic solvent from a polyarylene sulfide waste sludge
12018129 · 2024-06-25 · ·

Methods and systems are provided for recovering an organic solvent from a waste sludge generated during formation of a polyarylene sulfide. Methods include combining the waste sludge with a liquid extractant that extracts the organic solvent into a homogeneous liquid phase. Upon a temperature change, the homogeneous liquid phase can separate into an organic solvent-rich liquid phase and a liquid extractant-rich liquid phase. The two liquid phases can be separated and further processed if desired to further purify the recovered organic solvent. Methods can also include forming the polyarylene sulfide by a polymerization process and thereafter purifying a slurry of the polyarylene sulfide. A liquid washing product is formed as a result of the purification process, which can be subjected to a distillation process that forms an organic solvent-rich stream and the waste sludge.

System and Method for Removing Solid Buildup from Filters

A system and a method for removing solid buildup from a filter media is disclosed. A slurry is passed parallel across a cross-flow filter, the filter comprising a conductive filter media and the slurry comprising a carrier liquid and solids. A portion of the carrier liquid crosses through the filter media as a permeate while a thickened slurry continues parallel to the filter media. A blockage of at least a portion of the filter media is detected. The blockage comprises a portion of the solids. At least a portion of the filter media is heated to a melting temperature of the solids, such that a portion of the blockage melts, whereby the blockage is cleared.

Marine engine strainer assembly

A strainer assembly for a marine engine has a housing with an internal cavity. The housing has a threaded inlet end, an outlet and a flush port. A removable cover assembly covers the threaded inlet end and may be removed to allow a strainer to be removed from inside the housing and cleaned. The flush port may be closed with a plug and opened to allow a threaded end of a garden hose to be attached to the flush port for cleaning the engine.

The pool filter cleaner is adapted for use with a diatomaceous earth pool filter. The pool filter cleaner cleans the diatomaceous earth pool filter. The diatomaceous earth pool filter further comprises a diatomaceous filter cartridge. The pool filter cleaner is a water-spraying device. The pool filter cleaner is formed with a spray device that connects to a water source. The spray device surrounds the diatomaceous filter cartridge. The spray device cleans the diatomaceous filter by spraying water on the surface of the diatomaceous filter cartridge. The pool filter cleaner comprises the spray device and a connection. The connection attaches the spray device to the water source.

Exosome extraction device and exosome extraction method

A liquid containing exosomes is filtered through a first filter that has a hole diameter that passes the exosomes and blocks cells, and is then stored in a first storage unit (rough filtration step). Next, pressure is applied to the inside of the first storage unit to pump the liquid to a pre-filtration chamber in a second filter that blocks the exosomes so that water in the liquid is filtered out into a post-filtration chamber. The exosome-containing liquid that was not filtered out is returned to the first storage unit, thereby increasing the exosome concentration in the liquid for extraction (concentration step). The exosome-containing concentrate in the first storage unit is then filtered through a third filter having a hole diameter that passes the exosomes and blocks bacteria, and is sent to a recovery unit (sterilization filtration step).

Underdrain filter block

An underdrain filter block includes a top wall, a pair of side walls extending from the top wall, a bottom wall extending between the pair of side walls, first and second ribs, and a wall segment extending between the first rib and the second rib to define a grout chamber configured to receive grout during installation of the underdrain filter block.

FILTER MECHANISM

The present invention is a filter mechanism provided in a pump or the like, and the purpose thereof is to provide a filter mechanism that can eliminate foreign matter adhering to the surface of a filter and thereby can prevent clogging of filters because of foreign matter. According to the present invention, an area toward the inside in the direction of the radius of the filter is linked to an intake opening (235) of the pump (for example, a trochoid pump (22)) and, via the pump (22) to a pump ejection opening (trochoid pump ejection opening (215)), and an area between a filter (5) and (an inside wall surface (3i) of) a first casing (3) is linked to a low-pressure ejection opening (discharge opening (237)) for a working fluid.
