Cutting apparatus and method for forming cylindrical, conical, and/or annular stock materials
A cutting apparatus is disclosed herein. The cutting apparatus includes a workpiece support assembly, the workpiece support assembly configured to hold a workpiece in position by means of one or more rotational attachment points, the workpiece support assembly allowing generally single degree of freedom rotation while the workpiece is being cut, and the workpiece support assembly generally fixing the workpiece in the other directions of movement during the cutting thereof; and a cutting assembly having a cutting blade, the cutting blade configured to engage the workpiece, and circumferentially cut a portion of material from the workpiece. In some embodiments, the cutting blade may comprise a rotary cutting blade or a linearly displaceable cutting blade configured to tangentially engage the workpiece. A method for forming cylindrical, conical, and/or annular stock materials, which utilizes the cutting apparatus, is also disclosed herein.

Wood processing system
A wood processing system has a processing assembly containing a carrier movable in a second linear axis at right angles to a first linear axis and a third linear axis perpendicular to it, on which a processing unit designed as a motor spindle to accommodate at least one rotationally driven processing tool is arranged to pivot around three axes of rotation. The processing unit is arranged to pivot around a third axis of rotation spaced from the first axis of rotation on the free end of an arm pivotable on the carrier around a first axis of rotation and a second axis of rotation perpendicular to the first axis of rotation. The arm is arranged rotatable by 360 around the second axis of rotation on a front carrier part, which is arranged to rotate around the first axis of rotation perpendicular to the first linear axis on a front end face of the carrier.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING FLITCHES TO AN EDGER
An edger feed apparatus and method of feeding flitches into an edger are disclosed. The flitches are positioned with minimal spacing between successive flitches and with flitches positioned and the edger adjusted so as to yield a maximum value of lumber from each flitch. The edger feed apparatus may include a fetcher assembly to hold a second flitch in an edger ready position while a portion of the first flitch is directed below on an edger infeed mechanism being transported to the edger. The fetcher assembly releases the second flitch on to the edger infeed mechanism when the first flitch has moved clear from beneath the edger ready position. The edger feed apparatus additionally includes a scanner system for creating and storing a digital three-dimensional model of each flitch for determining a sawing solution to be implemented by the edger.

Support block for board cutting
A carpentry block is provided to support a remote end of a board or work piece to be cut with a table saw or chop saw. The block has a triangular body which can be positioned on any base to define three different heights to support the remote work piece end. The block can also be positioned on the one end to define a fourth height for work piece support. An extension member can be added to the block to provide additional heights with the block, the outer end of the work piece is level with the saw table, thereby assuring an accurate cut of the work piece by the saw blade.
