Pedestrian density and proximity recognition with vehicle and mobile device countermeasures
A vehicle has been proposed that is equipped with a processing system coupled to different sensors that may anticipate and mitigate risks leading to vehicle-pedestrian incidents. In some aspects, the processing system identifies, using a plurality of sensors and external vehicle sources over a wireless network, data elements indicating that the vehicle is a potential hazard to a pedestrian. Using the elements, the processing system may determine values of a pedestrian hazard level (PHL) that correspond to successively increasing risks. Where the PHL meets a threshold, the system may employ countermeasures to proactively mitigate the risks of pedestrian incidents.
Motor-driven trailer and towbar system
A motor-driven trailer and towbar system includes a towbar having a vehicle side end configured to connect with the vehicle and a trailer side end configured to connect with a trailer coupling. The towbar is pivotably coupled to the trailer and configured to pivot along a pivoting path (P) between a lowered position (L) and a raised position (R) with respect to the trailer. At least one first sensor element is configured to detect a position of the towbar along the pivoting path (P). A control unit (TCU) is in communication with the at least one first sensor element and is configured to switch the system between an operating mode and a parking mode. The system is switched into the parking mode when the towbar is in a raised position (R) and is switched into the operating mode when the towbar is in a lowered position (L).
Automatic speed control device, automatic speed control method, and automatic speed control program
An automatic speed control device includes: an upper limit lateral acceleration degree setting part for setting an upper limit lateral acceleration degree; a road curvature acquiring part for acquiring a value of a curvature parameter relating to curvature of a road; an upper limit speed setting part for calculating a speed of the vehicle at which if the vehicle runs on that road, the lateral acceleration degree of the vehicle becomes the upper limit lateral acceleration degree and setting the calculated speed as the upper limit speed; and a speed control part for controlling the speed of the vehicle to be less than or equal to the upper limit speed. The upper limit lateral acceleration degree when running on a connecting road is set lower than the upper limit lateral acceleration degree when running on a main road of a motorway.
Adjustable performance for a vehicle
A recreational vehicle includes a seatbelt sensor configured to detect when a seatbelt is in an engaged position or a disengaged position and an engine control module in communication with the seatbelt sensor to automatically limit a maximum speed of the vehicle to a reduced maximum speed limit upon detection of the seatbelt is in the disengaged position.
Collision avoidance system and method for avoiding collision of work machine with obstacles
A collision avoidance system for a work machine includes at least one sensor configured to generate a signal indicative of a presence of at least one obstacle in a surrounding area of the work machine. The collision avoidance system also includes a controller communicably coupled with the sensor. The controller is configured to receive the signal indicative of the presence of the obstacle in the surrounding area of the work machine from the sensor. The controller is also configured to determine a position of the obstacle relative to the work machine based on the signal received from the sensor. The controller is further configured to generate a control signal to prevent a movement of the work machine, halt the movement of the work machine, or reduce a velocity of the work machine based on the determination of the position of the obstacle.
Travel control device
A travel control device for controlling traveling of a straddle-type vehicle includes a control device, a vehicle speed detector configured to detect a traveling speed of the vehicle, and a vibration detector configured to detect a detection target vibration which is a vibration in a yaw direction or roll direction of the vehicle and has a frequency within a reference frequency range. The control device includes a deceleration device configured to perform a deceleration control to decelerate the traveling speed if the traveling speed exceeds a control start reference speed and an amplitude of the detection target vibration exceeds a control start reference amplitude and a deceleration stop device configured to stop the deceleration control if the traveling speed becomes equal to or less than a target limited speed after the deceleration control is started by the deceleration device.
Suspension system for a heavy vehicle
A suspension system for a heavy vehicle, the system comprising a control circuitry configured to compare signals on current vertical position obtained from left and right level sensors and determine whether a current difference in vertical position between left and right leaf springs is greater than first threshold value; if determined difference is greater than first threshold value: determine, based on timing information related to signals provided by inertial measurement unit and left and right level sensors, whether the determined difference in vertical position between left and right leaf springs is related in time with signal from inertial measurement unit indicating that the angular velocity of wheel axle is greater than a second threshold; and, if determined difference in vertical position not related in time with signal indicating angular velocity of wheel axle is greater than second threshold, generate alarm signal indicative of detected or possibly detected leaf spring failure.
Actuator system, vehicle, and vehicle control method
An actuator system configured to control an operation of a vehicle includes at least one application configured to set a kinematic plan for the vehicle, and one and more processors configured to arbitrate a plurality of kinematic plans including a kinematic plan set by the at least one application.
