COUNTING MECHANISM
20210174160 · 2021-06-10 ·

A counting mechanism (100) for a dispenser comprising: a first and a second housing part (110, 120) that are rotatable relative to each other; and a counting ring (130) disposed between the housing parts. The first housing part has a protrusion (111) which abuts the counting ring, holding a portion of the counting ring in contact with the second housing part. The relative rotation of the housing parts causes the protrusion to slide against the surface of the counting ring to drive a rolling movement of the counting ring around the circumference of the second housing part, such that a predefined rotation of the housing parts produces an incremental rotational displacement between the counting ring and second housing part to record a count. The counting mechanism provides a large gear reduction ratio in a compact form which is straightforward to manufacture and provides an accurate and reliable record of counts.

Device and system for remote regulation and monitoring of drug delivery and method of same

Aspects and embodiments of the present invention generally include a device for patient self-administration of a prescribed medication. The total quantity of doses to be contained in the device, the quantity of prescribed medication comprising each individual dose, and the dosing schedule, collectively referred to as prescription parameters, are determined and controlled solely by a health care provider (HCP) such as the patient's physician. In accordance with a prescribed dosing schedule, the device makes available for administration the precise quantity of prescribed medication constituting an individual dose. Patient access to the medication as well as patient control of the device is limited solely to the aspects of the device necessary to administer the available dose; that is, the patient has no control over the prescription parameters utilized by the device; that is, the quantity of a dose, the availability of individual doses, the schedule at which the doses are made available to the patient, nor the prescribed medication itself which is contained in the device. Preferably, the device also has a monitored subassembly which detects and transmits relevant device information to a remote management system accessible to the HCP, including detected attempts to alter, access, control or otherwise tamper with the device beyond its prescribed use. Advantageously, HCPs may render sufficient oversight and control over the device and its use to mitigate the risks associated with patients self-administering potentially dangerous or abusable medication without direct, in-person supervision.

Inhaler counter

An inhaler for delivery of a medicament by inhalation is disclosed. The inhaler comprises a dispensing mechanism, the dispensing mechanism being configured to dispense a dose of medicament on actuation. The inhaler further comprises a dose counting mechanism comprising a counter and a translating member. The translating member comprises a pawl. The counter comprises a first count wheel, a second count wheel and an intermediate wheel engaged with the second count wheel and in selective engagement with the first count wheel. When the inhaler is fired to dispense a dose of medicament, the dispensing mechanism moves the translating member in a substantially linear direction. The pawl thus rotates the first count wheel, and as the first count wheel rotates, the intermediate wheel is selectively engaged thereby selectively rotating the second count wheel to count the doses of the inhaler.

AIRWAY INHALANT NEBULIZER CARTRIDGE
20210162148 · 2021-06-03 ·

A cartridge is inserted onto a nebulizer that aerosolizes (or vaporizes) liquid drawn from a cartridge reservoir via a flow path into a nebulization chamber. In such a nebulizer, an inlet port is coupled to an external air supply and leads through a Venturi nozzle into the chamber to direct an air stream across an opening of the flow path, while a discharge port leads from the chamber to a user mask, mouthpiece or cannula, where the aerosol or vapor mixture can be inhaled. A filtered outlet port isolates exhaled material from the external environment. Multiple discrete heating elements may be placed around the flow path to preheat the liquid. If the liquid is sufficiently volatile, heating may vaporize the material which can condense back into an aerosol after mixing with the air stream. A set of check valves direct one-way flow and prevent leakage or spillage of material from the cartridge or nebulizer. The cartridge and nebulizer can receive coded information for third-party activation by an authorized establishment.

Nebulizer

A nebulizer for a fluid, includes a container containing the fluid; a housing part which can be detached from the nebulizer for replacing the container; an inner part; a retaining element connected with and not detachable from the inner part, where the housing part is releasable fixed to the inner part by the retaining element; a delivery mechanism for dispensing the fluid; a manually depressible actuator member, which is a separate part from the retaining element and acts on the retaining element, and wherein the actuator member is depressed to elastically deform or flex the retaining element to allow detachment of the housing part.
