Salt Separation and Destruction of PFAS Utilizing Reverse Osmosis and Salt Separation
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are destroyed by oxidation in supercritical conditions. PFAS in water is concentrated in a reverse osmosis step and salt from the resulting solution is removed in supercritical conditions prior to destruction of PFAS in supercritical conditions.
Reverse electrodialysis cell and methods of use thereof
A method of generating electrical power or hydrogen from thermal energy is disclosed. The method includes separating, by a selectively permeable membrane, a first saline solution from a second saline solution, receiving, by the first saline solution and/or the second saline solution, thermal energy from a heat source, and mixing the first saline solution and the second saline solution in a controlled manner, capturing at least some salinity-gradient energy as electrical power as the salinity difference between the first saline solution and the second saline solution decreases. The method further includes transferring, by a heat pump, thermal energy from the first saline solution to the second saline solution, causing the salinity difference between the first saline solution and the second saline solution to increase.
SYNERGETIC SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR WASTE TREATMENT
A synergetic system for waste treatment is provided. The synergetic system includes a waste treatment system configured to perform biological treatment of waste. Additionally, the synergetic system includes a gas purification system configured to purify exhaust gas generated during the biological treatment of the waste. The synergetic system further includes a feeding system configured to feed excess heat from the gas purification system back to the waste treatment system. The waste treatment system is further configured to use the fed back excess heat for the biological treatment of the waste.
System and method for improved anaerobic digestion
A method for improved anaerobic digestion is presented. The method includes mixing a volume of waste material with water to form a feedstock mixture. The volume of waste material includes an initial amount of biomass and the feedstock mixture includes methanogenic bacteria either naturally present in the waste material or introduced artificially. The method also includes introducing one or more promoter substances to the feedstock mixture. The one or more promoter substances are capable of modifying the methanogenic bacteria. Modifying includes stimulating novel enzyme production in the methanogenic bacteria.
Systems and methods for removing ammonia from an ammonia-containing liquid
A system and method for removing ammonia from an ammonia-containing liquid is described. The system comprises a primary heat exchanger 12 for heating the ammonia-containing liquid to operational temperature, an ammonia stripper 14 for stripping ammonia from the ammonia-containing liquid from the primary heat exchanger and discharging it as ammonia-containing gas, and an acid scrubber 16 for reacting the ammonia in the ammonia-containing gas with acid to form an ammonium salt. The acid scrubber comprises a scrubbed air outlet 32 in fluid communication with a hot air inlet 20 of the ammonia stripper, such that scrubbed air which is discharged from the acid scrubber may be recycled for use in the ammonia stripper. Also described is a system and method for removing ammonia from an ammonia-containing liquid, wherein the system comprises a cold-water scrubber for removing ammonia from the ammonia-containing gas discharged from the ammonia stripper.
System for reducing produced water disposal volumes utilizing waste heat
A method and system is provided for reducing produced water disposal volumes utilizing waste heat generated by thermal oxidation. Waste heat generated by thermal oxidation can be used to vapourize excess water, and to treat and scrub the water vapour for final release into the atmosphere. The system can utilize excess heat remaining after thermal oxidation to produce water vapour.

An evaporator for submerged combustion and delayed evaporation, a method of the same and a system of combined evaporation devices, the evaporator for submerged combustion and delayed evaporation comprises: a housing formed with a space for containing an evaporating liquid; a separator plate arranged in an interior of the housing and dividing the housing into a heat transfer (submerged combustion) area and an evaporation area; a vapor chamber located above a liquid surface of the evaporation area; a flue gas chamber located above a liquid surface of the heat transfer area, wherein the flue gas chamber is provided with a flue gas outlet, the flue gas outlet is provided with a pressure valve which is capable of controlling a gas pressure within the flue gas chamber such that a gas pressure within the flue gas chamber is larger than a gas pressure within the vapor chamber.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR ENHANCING MOLECULAR OSCILLATION FOR REMOVING CHLORINE IN WATER
An apparatus and a method for treating saltwater and removing chlorine in water to make a variety of sodium-based byproducts and chlorine gas is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a feed tank for receiving water. The feed tank is coupled to a plurality of Radio frequency (RF) chambers. Each of the RF chambers comprises an inlet and an outlet. The outlet is coupled to a treated water effluent manifold. Further, each RF chamber is coupled to a vacuum manifold. Each RF chamber comprises a recirculation pipe to pump water back into the feed tank. The RF chamber comprises a RF system used for bombarding RF energy at predefined frequencies on the water in order to liberate chlorine isotope. Additionally, the RF system bombards RF energy to stretch hydrogen bond in the saltwater to a point of breaking a molecule by applying low pressure. The hydrogen bond captures chlorine. Subsequently, the water is sent through the outlet to the treated water effluent manifold.
