An embodiment of the present invention provides a steel material, for a pressure vessel, comprising, in weight %, 0.06-0.25% of carbon (C), 0.05-0.50% of silicon (Si), 1.0-2.0% of manganese (Mn), 0.005-0.40% of aluminum (Al), 0.010% or less of phosphorus (P), 0.0010% or less of sulfur (S), 0.001-0.03% of niobium (Nb), 0.001-0.03% of vanadium (V), 0.001-0.03% of titanium (Ti), 0.01-0.20% of chromium (Cr), 0.05-0.15% of molybdenum (Mo), 0.01-0.50% of copper (Cu), 0.05-0.50% of nickel (Ni), 0.0005-0.0050% of magnesium (Mg), 0.0005-0.0050% of calcium (Ca), 0.0020% or less of oxygen (O), and the remainder being Fe and other unavoidable impurities. A microstructure comprises in terms of area fraction 30% or less of pearlite and the remainder being ferrite. A non-metallic inclusion contains Mg—Al—Ca—O composite oxide.

A high permeability grain oriented electrical steel having a chemistry comprising, all in weight percent, 2.5% to 4.5% silicon, 0.02% to 0.08% carbon, 0.01 to 0.05% aluminum, 0.005% to 0.050% sulfur or selenium, 0.02 to 0.20% manganese, 0.05 to 0.20% tin, 0.05 to 1% copper, 0.5% to 2.0% chromium, up to 0.10% phosphorus and up to 0.20% antimony with the balance being essentially iron and residual elements. The steel contains chromium and phosphorus in such amounts that a Cr:(P+0.25Sb) ratio is below 80:1 or, below 50:1, or below 30:1 which provides highly stable magnetic properties in the finished steel sheet. A hot processed band comprised of such steel is annealed and rapidly cooled after such annealing at a rate of at least 50° C. per second from 875-950° C. to a temperature below 400° C. prior to cold rolling to final thickness. Such steel forming a hot processed band having a thickness of from 1.5 to 4.0 mm and having a volume resistivity of at least 50 μΩ-cm, an austenite volume fraction (γ1150° C.) of at least 20%, and an isomorphic layer thickness of at least 2% of the total thickness on at least one surface of the hot processed band.

A low-carbon iron-chromium-molybdenum alloy comprises, in weight percent: carbon from about 0.1 to about 0.8 percent; manganese from about 0.1 to about 4 percent; silicon from about 0.1 to about 0.5 percent; chromium from 14 to about 16 percent; nickel up to about 8 percent; vanadium up to about 0.1 percent; molybdenum from 14 to about 16 percent; tungsten up to about 6 percent; niobium from about 0.1 to about 0.8 percent; cobalt up to about 0.2 percent; boron up to 0.1 percent; nitrogen up to about 0.1 percent; copper up to about 1.5 percent; sulfur up to about 0.05 percent; phosphorus up to about 0.05 percent; balance iron from about 50 to about 65 percent; and incidental impurities wherein the alloy contains a ratio of Cr/Mo of about 0.9 to about 1.1. The alloy can be used as a valve seat insert for combustion engines.
