ANISOTROPIC ICEPHOBIC COATING
Articles including durable and icephobic polymeric coatings are disclosed. The polymeric coatings include a bonding layer which may contain a substantially fully cured polymeric resin providing excellent adhesion to metallic or polymer substrates. The polymeric coating further includes an outer surface layer which is smooth, hydrophobic and icephobic and, in addition to a substantially fully cured resin, contains silicone comprising additives near the exposed outer surface. The anisotropic polymeric coatings are particularly suited for strong and lightweight parts required in aerospace, automotive and sporting goods applications. A process for making the articles is disclosed as well.
CURABLE COATING COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING GLYCIDYL CARBAMATE RESINS AND AMPHIPHILIC GLYCIDYL-CARBAMATE-FUNCTIONAL PREPOLYMERS HAVING FOULING-RELEASE AND ANTI-ICING PROPERTIES
The invention relates to a curable coating composition comprising at least one glycidyl carbamate (GC) resin, at least one amphiphilic GC-functional prepolymer, and at least one curing agent. The invention also relates to a method of making the curable coating compositions. The invention also relates to an article of manufacture comprising the curable coating composition of the invention and a method of making such article. The invention also relates to a fouling-release (FR) coating system and an anti-coating system, each of which comprises the curable coating compositions of the invention, methods of applying the FR coating systems and anti-coating systems to substrates, and methods for reducing or preventing biofouling or icing of a surface exposed to an aqueous environment using the FR coating systems.

Described herein is a coated building panel comprising an acoustical body comprising a first major surface and a side surface that intersects the first major surface, a coating applied to the first major surface, the coating comprising a polymeric binder, a pigment, and a hydrophobic component present in an amount ranging from about 1.0 wt. % to about 8.0 wt. % based on the total weight of the coating; and wherein the pigment and polymeric binder are present in a weight ratio ranging from about 3.5:1 to about 6.5:1.
Antifouling coating composition comprising novel carbon-based hydrolysable polymers
The present application describes novel antifouling coating compositions comprising carbon-based hydrolysable polymers of ethylenically unsaturated monomers of which some include cyclic carbonates or cyclic ethers, e.g. (2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)methyl (meth)acrylate (IPGA/IPGMA), isopropylidene glycerol ethoxylated acrylate (iPGEOA), isopropylidene glycerol ethoxylated methacrylate (iPGEOMA) and (2-oxo-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)methyl (meth)acrylate (GCA/GCMA), and their use in antifouling coating compositions. Novel polymers are also described.
MICROBIAL GROWTH AND DUST RETARDANT ROOFING SHINGLES
A microbial growth and dust retardant roofing shingle comprising a substrate and a pore filling composition applied on the surface of the substrate is disclosed. The pore filling composition comprises a silane or acrylic composition. A method of protecting a substrate from microbial growth and soiling using the pore filling composition of the present disclosure is also disclosed.
ANTIFOULING LAYER-PROVIDED TRANSPARENT SUBSTRATE
To provide an antifouling layer-provided transparent substrate, which is excellent in antiglare and antifouling properties, especially in removability of a creamy product such as hand cream. An antifouling layer-provided transparent substrate, containing a transparent substrate and an antifouling layer provided as the top surface layer on one main surface of the transparent substrate, where the antifouling layer has a divalent group represented by —(OCF.sub.2).sub.v(OCF.sub.2CF.sub.2).sub.w— (where v and w are each independently an integer of at least 1), and the surface of the antifouling layer is such that the mean width RSm of the elements and the arithmetical mean roughness Ra satisfy RSm≥Ra×100+5.

Systems, devices, and methods for a cosmetic sponge having: a tip portion at one end of the cosmetic sponge; an angled portion, where the tip portion is surrounded by the angled portion; a bulbous portion, where the bulbous portion is disposed proximate a bottom of the cosmetic sponge; and a bottom portion, where the bottom portion is surrounded by the bulbous portion; and a thermochromic pigment in at least a portion of the cosmetic sponge, where the portion of the cosmetic sponge changes from a first color at a first temperature to a second color at a second temperature.
Barnacle Suppression Module
A module for preventing barnacle formation in a marine air-conditioning system. The module comprises: i) a source of irradiating light for killing or stunning barnacle larvae; ii) a pipe assembly; and iii) a coating applied to a wall of an interior chamber of the pipe assembly, wherein the coating enhances the maintenance of photons in the irradiating light. The pipe assembly comprises an interior chamber, an input neck configured to be coupled to an input pipe and to direct an incoming water flow into the interior chamber, and an output neck configured to be coupled to an output pipe and to direct an outgoing water flow from the interior chamber. The pipe assembly further includes a third neck configured to receive the source of irradiating light and to direct the irradiating light into the interior chamber of the pipe assembly.

To provide a fluorinated ether compound capable of forming a surface layer excellent in initial water/oil repellency, fingerprint stain removability, abrasion resistance and light resistance; a fluorinated ether composition and a coating liquid containing the fluorinated ether compound; an article having a surface layer excellent in initial water/oil repellency, fingerprint stain removability, abrasion resistance and light resistance and a method for producing it. A fluorinated ether compound having a poly(oxyperfluoroalkylene) chain having a unit (α) which is an oxyperfluoroalkylene unit having 5 or 6 carbon atoms, and a unit (β) which is an oxyperfluoroalkylene unit having at most 4 carbon atoms, and having at least one of a hydrolysable silyl group and a silanol group on at least one terminal of the poly(oxyperfluoroalkylene) chain via a linking group.
Fluorine-containing coating film and water- and oil-repellent coating composition
It is an object of the present invention to provide a coating film capable of realizing satisfactory sliding properties in addition to water- and oil-repellent properties and wear resistance evaluated by a static contact angle, and a coating composition for obtaining the coating film. The present invention is directed to a fluorine-containing coating film which has a root mean square roughness of less than 3.5 nm and has a perfluoropolyether structure. It is preferred that the coating film has a polysiloxane backbone and further has a structure in which a fluoroalkyl group is directly bonded to a silicon atom of the polysiloxane backbone, and that a sliding angle of 6 μL of a water droplet is 24.3° or less, or a speed of 20 μL of a water droplet sliding on a coating film inclined at 32° is 0.1 cm/second or more.
