Devices and methods of estimating the AoD of a STA are generally described. The STA receives comparison symbols from a first AP antenna. The comparison symbols are received prior to and after switching of transmitter chains from a first set of antennas to a second set of antennas. AoD symbols are received immediately after the comparison symbols. A phase and amplitude correction is determined based on a phase and amplitude change between the comparison symbols and the second AoD symbol corrected based thereon. The AoD is subsequently estimated based on the symbol measurements.

Spiral antenna system

A spiral antenna, comprising a first arm and a second arm. The first arm and second arm are interlaced with each other. Each arm has a plurality of turns comprising an inner subset of circular turns, and an outer subset of turns, electrically coupled to the inner subset, having a shape with only four lines of symmetry. An array of such spiral antennas disposed a substrate that extends in a direction of a longitudinal axis and having a round cross section in a plan transverse to the longitudinal axis.

Apparatuses and methods for determining the perspective of a receiver of a transmission from the transmitting station are disclosed. The receiver may determine an angle of arrival of the transmission. The angle of arrival may be used to generate perspective information, which may then be transmitted to the transmitting station for use in enhancing recognition and detection of the receiver. In embodiments, the perspective information may comprise an image or images of the receiver generated from a model of the receiver. In embodiments, the transmission may be a millimeter wave transmission.

Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating improving millimeter wave communications via device orientation alignment are disclosed herein. An example method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes estimating a direction of a base station serving beam in relation to a spherical coverage mapping of the UE. The example method also includes identifying one or more rotation vectors for adjusting an orientation of the UE based on the direction of the base station serving beam and the spherical coverage mapping. Also, the example method includes applying at least one rotation vector to adjust the orientation of the UE.

Correlation sidelobe proximity screening

A process of screening direction finding solutions to reduce the number of valid direction finding solution rejections while maintaining an acceptable level of wild bearings being reported utilizing the proximity of the correlation values of the highest correlation and second highest correlation given a correlation pattern of a detected signal of unknown origin.

METHOD FOR ANTENNA OCCLUSION DETECTION

Techniques are disclosed for detecting obstruction of a device's antenna(s) and then changing an operation of the device. A transmission time at which an antenna of an electronic device transmitted a signal can be identified. A response signal can be detected that was received at a receiver of the electronic device subsequent to the transmission time. Based on the response signal and on the transmission time, one or more response-signal characteristics can be determined. Based on the one or more response-signal characteristics, it can be determined that the antenna or that another antenna of the electronic device is at least partly blocked from emitting or receiving signals. In response to determining that the antenna is at least partly blocked, a changed type of operation of operation can be identified, and the changed type of operation can be performed.
