Data redirection upon failure of a program operation
A determination is made by a processing device included in a memory component that an operation to program data to a location in the memory component has failed, the data is programmed to a different location in the memory component by the processing device upon determining the operation has failed, and a notification that the data has been programmed to the different location in the memory component is provided by the processing device to a processing device operatively coupled to the memory component.
Regression-based calibration and scanning of data units
Read operations can be performed to read data stored at a data block. Parameters reflective of a separation between a pair of programming distributions associated with the data block can be determined based on the plurality of read operations. A read request to read the data stored at the data block can be received. In response to receiving the read request, a read operation can be performed to read the data stored at the data block based on the parameters that are reflective of the separation between the pair of programming distributions associated with the data block.
Offline data transfer between devices using gestures
A system is provided including a first server storing a first data file for a first user, a second server storing a second data file for a second user, a first data card of the first user registered with the first server and locally storing a portion of the first data file, and a second data card of the second user registered with the second server and associated with the second data file. The first data card detects a pairing gesture between the first and second data cards, and in response, establishes a peer-to-peer connection between the data cards. The first data card subsequently detects a transfer gesture between the first and second data cards, and in response, transmits the portion of the first data file from the first data card to the second data card over the peer-to-peer connection.
Transferring data between solid state drives (SSDs) via a connection between the SSDs
A first solid state drive (SSD) includes a built-in network interface device configured to communicate via a network fabric, and a second SSD includes a built-in network interface device configured to communicate via the network fabric. A connection is opened between the first SSD and the second SSD over the network fabric, where the first SSD is further communicatively coupled to the second SSD further over an interconnect associated with a host computer. The first SSD encapsulates a non-volatile memory over fabric (NVMe-oF) command to transfer data between the first SSD and the second SSD in a capsule and sends the capsule to the second SSD over the connection. The second SSD executes the NVMe command to transfer the data between the first SSD and the second SSD over the connection according to an NVMe-oF communication protocol and without transferring any of the data to the host computer.
System and method for mapping objects to regions
An illustrative embodiment disclosed herein is an apparatus including a processor and a memory. In some embodiments, the memory includes programmed instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the apparatus to store a first object and a second object in a first region based on the first object and the second object having a first policy. In some embodiments, the memory includes programmed instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the apparatus to store a third object in a second region based on the third object having a second policy. In some embodiments, a virtual disk includes the first region and the second region.
MEMORY SYSTEM AND STORAGE SYSTEM
According to one embodiment, a memory system includes a nonvolatile memory and a controller. The controller manages first account information to be used for authentication of a first account and second account information to be used for authentication of a second account. The controller receives third account information from a host device. When the third account information matches the first account information, the controller permits access to at least a partial storage area of the nonvolatile memory based on a request from the host device and transmits first data that includes the second account information to a first memory system.
Allocating variable media types of memory devices in a memory system
A processing device receives a first instruction specifying that first data is to remain on a first memory device of a plurality of memory devices, the first memory device comprising a first media having a first media type. The processing device further receives a second instruction specifying, based on one or more criteria, that second data is to be moved from the first media having the first media type to a second memory device of the plurality of memory devices, the second memory device comprising a second media having a second media type that is different than the first media type. The processing device further controls the first and second data in the plurality of memory devices based on the first instruction and the second instruction.
Adaptive look-ahead configuration for prefetching data in input/output operations
Techniques are provided for adaptive look-ahead configuration for data prefetching. One method comprises, in response to a request for a data item in a storage system: obtaining a size of a look-ahead window for the request based on one of multiple available caching policies; and moving the requested data item and additional data items within the look-ahead window to the cache memory when the requested data item and/or the additional data items within the look-ahead window are not in the cache memory. The multiple available caching policies comprise a caching policy based on characteristics of an input/output workload of the storage system, or a portion thereof; and/or a caching policy based on an input/output workload of at least a portion of the storage system within a prior predefined time window. The look-ahead window size may be varied over time.
METHOD FOR MANAGING A DATA GROUP IN A COMPUTER SYSTEM
A method for managing a data record in a computer system comprises: at least one computing server for hosting a computer session running with an operating system having a deduplication index and managing access to a session storage space; a shared storage space; an administration server for administering the shared storage space, executing a data management program; the computer session executing an interception program implementing the following steps: intercepting a read call to read at least one data record transmitted in the session; accessing the deduplication index and determining whether the data record is recorded in the shared storage space; if so, reading, from the deduplication index, the address of the data record in the shared storage space and redirecting the read call to this address; if not, overlooking the read call so that it is processed by the operating system.
Dedicated interface for coupling flash memory and dynamic random access memory
The present application describes embodiments of an interface for coupling flash memory and dynamic random access memory (DRAM) in a processing system. Some embodiments include a dedicated interface between a flash memory and DRAM. The dedicated interface is to provide access to the flash memory in response to instructions received over a DRAM interface between the DRAM and a processing device. Some embodiments of a method include accessing a flash memory via a dedicated interface between the flash memory and a dynamic random access memory (DRAM) in response to an instruction received over a DRAM interface between the DRAM and a processing device.
