A blood glucose meter having a test strip port and an adjustable lancet device disposed at the same end of the device body is disclosed. The device body further includes an enclosure at the proximal end of the device body which houses a test strip storage vial and which facilitates one-handed opening and closing of the vial to simplify access to test strips contained therein. The enclosure is further provided with a window which allows the reading of the lot numbers on the label of the test strip vial therein without necessitating removal of the vial. A data connector is also provided on the device body for communication access, such as to upload data from other devices or to download data to other devices.
Lancing actuator
A lancing actuator (114) includes a drive element (118) for driving a lancing element, the drive element being guided within a housing (112), a combined compression and torsion element (120) which, by a relaxing movement thereof, is adapted to drive the lancing motion, a combined triggering and driving device (122) having an actuating element (124) and a locking device (126), wherein the actuating element has an initial state and an actuated state and is accessible from the outside of the housing, wherein, in the initial state, the drive element is locked in the locking device under a torsional stress exerted by the combined compression and torsion element, wherein the combined triggering and driving device is configured in a manner that, when the actuating element makes a movement along an actuation path from the initial state into the actuated state, a torque is exerted on the drive element which prevails over the torsional stress exerted by the combined compression and torsion element such that the drive element is released from the locking device, which results in a triggering of the lancing motion.
PERSONAL MEDICAL TESTING HOUSING
A device for facilitating the testing of a fluid sample on a test strip includes a housing containing a loading receptacle, a support member, a disposal receptacle, a lancet device and a sensor device. The loading receptacle is adapted to receive the test strip. The support member is adapted to support the test strip. The disposal receptacle is adapted to hold the test strip. The sensor device is adapted to analyze the fluid sample. The device further includes a strip control assembly that is adapted to move the test strip from a first position in the loading receptacle to a second position on the support member, and from the second position to a third position in the disposal receptacle. The device may include a sample door that provides access to the test strip in the second position wherein the test strip is operatively engaged with the sensor device.
Puncture needle cartridge and puncture device using same
A puncture needle cartridge (1) includes: a lancet body (5) mounted with a puncture needle (3) on a front end side and having a mount (4) on a rear end side; and a plate-like first case (6) and second case (7) covering the lancet body (5) from above and below and arranged slidably back and forth along each other. The puncture needle cartridge (1) is configured such that the first case (6) is slid forward of the second case (7), and in this slid state, the first case (6) and the second case (7) are secured to each other when ejected from the puncture instrument (10). This can make the puncture needle cartridge (1) impossible to mount again on the puncture instrument (10).
Lancing device for taking blood samples
A lancing device (1) for taking blood samples comprises a housing (2), an axially displaceable lancet holder element (32) for holding a replaceable lancet (12), and a drive unit (30) comprising at least a lancing spring element (31) for driving the axially displaceable lancet holder element (32) in a lancing direction (18). The lancing device further comprises a tensioning carriage part (26) which can be fixed in a tensioning position (36) for tensioning the lancing spring element (31). The fixable tensioning carriage part (26) is temporarily axially fixed in this tensioning position (36) by means of a latching apparatus (35) which can be latched to the axially displaceable lancet holder element (32).
Lancer
A lancer device that enables a user to draw blood from a patient and discard the used lancet without touching it. The device also has an adjustable tip for selecting the depth of stylet penetration into the patient and a triggering mechanism that utilizes a yoke latch and a leaf spring to discharge the lancet. The lancer also has a dampening feature to reduce vibrations when the lancet is moving.
Vacuum assisted lancing system and method for blood extraction with minimal pain
A lancing system can include a device body having a sealing device coupled to a lancing end, a lancing shaft slideably coupled to the lancing end, a lancing spring coupled to the lancing shaft, a release mechanism, a main shaft slideably coupled with a free end of the device body in communication with the release mechanism, a piston coupled to the main shaft, a vacuum spring coupled to the piston, and a shaft coupler having at least two separable portions for removably coupling the lancing shaft to the main shaft. The system can include a lance tool having an insertion portion and a removal portion. A method can include creating a first portion of a vacuum, lancing a surface, and creating a second portion of a vacuum.
Lancet-release mechanism
A lancet-release mechanism is adapted to be incorporated into a lancing device. The lancing device is adapted to receive a lancet assembly therein. The lancing device is adapted to move the lancet assembly between a resting position, a cocking position, and a puncture position. The lancet-release mechanism comprises a lancet holder and a cantilever beam. The lancet holder forms a central aperture. The central aperture is adapted to receive the lancet assembly therein. The lancet holder further forms a plurality of protuberances thereon. The cantilever beam has a projection extending therefrom. The projection is adapted to engage the plurality of protuberances located on the lancet holder. The projection is adapted to separate the plurality of protuberances from each other so as to enlarge the central aperture.
