Fiber cement articles with ultra-smooth exterior surface and methods for manufacturing same

Described herein are cementitious articles having an integrally formed exterior surface with ultra-smooth finish and reduced porosity and/or thickness relative to the core of the cementitious article. Described herein are also techniques and methods for producing fiber cement articles having a thin exterior shell characterized by improved smoothness and reduced porosity.

HEAT-SEALABLE POLYESTER FILM FOR PRODUCTION OF READY-MEAL TRAYS, PROCESS FOR ITS PRODUCTION, AND USE OF THE FILM

Coextruded, unstructured, transparent and thermoformable polyester films are provided including at least one base layer (B) made of a-PET and one heat-sealable outer layer (A). The heat-sealable outer layer (A) includes at least 80% by weight of polyester with from 25 to 95 mol % of units derived from at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid and 5 to 75 mol % of units derived from at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, along with aliphatic diols. The outer layer (A) also includes up to 0.4% by weight of inorganic or organic particles with median diameter d.sub.50 2.0 to 8.0 m. The thickness of the outer layer (A) is 10 to 100 m, and the thickness of the film is in the range 100 to 1500 m. The invention further relates to processes for producing the inventive film, and also to packaging for foods or other consumable products, such as trays.

SOUND ATTENUATING LAMINATE MATERIALS
20200071928 · 2020-03-05 ·

Sound absorbing or attenuating laminate flooring materials are provided, which are directed to be used in the production of floor covering, floor panels, furniture panels, cabinets, counter-tops and wall panels. As well, the methods for producing such products are provided. In particular, abrasion resistant panels, with a laminated structure, created by forming an assembly which consists of laminating a heat-activated resin impregnated paper wear layer, a decorative layer with printed graphics or a wood veneer decorative layer, a medium density (MDF) or high-density (HDF) natural fiber-based core and a resin impregnated paper balancing layer. To achieve sound absorbing and/or attenuating properties, any or all paper layers may be pre coated with an additional flexible elastomeric coating, film or material prior to assembly of the panel, or the natural fiber core panel may be coated with a flexible elastomeric coating, film or material prior to assembly with the papers. The flexible elastomeric coating, film or material acts to absorb, reduce, and/or ameliorate the sound transmissions inherent in laminated panels.

Super absorbing composite material, form factors created therefrom, and methods of production

Super absorbent material used for drying that integrates super absorbent non-woven fibrous mats with other material, as for example wicking material, are described. The fibrous mats consist of polymeric material embedded with particles of super absorbent polymer. The wicking material may be lightweight knitted fabric that actively absorbs and wicks liquid across the fabric surface. The materials are fabricated as single layer or multiple layers and demonstrate a variety of form factors suitable to the intended use. The super absorbent materials may incorporate additional functionalities, such as antifungal or antibacterial, for biomedical uses.
